"What are you doing up at this time?" Asked Jack.
Now only? I thought.
I kept quiet and tried to figure out what I was going to say to him. Well, I wanted some food to keep me up after the encounter with mom after she came to my room.
She real left me feeling unsettled.
"I just came to get a glass of water, I couldn't sleep," I forced a yawn and stretched out my arms.
"Well, goodnight," he said and left.
"Goodnight." I replied.
Okay, so I was all alone now, what could I possibly do to push time?
Honestly, I was scared to go to sleep, because I feared my mother would kill me in my sleep.
I was still shuddered by what she said about leaving me to die.
I took the TV controller and tuned to M-net to watch some boring comedy series at reduced volume.
However, the silence in the living room was broken by my ringtone, scaring the hell out of me.
"What the hell?"
I grabbed my phone off the coffee table and checked the caller's ID, but it was an unknown number.
I stared at the screen until the person hung up.
The next thing I hear is the house phone ringing in the kitchen.
I cussed under my breath and skipped to the kitchen, and then I grabbed the phone off the kitchen unit.
"Hello?" I answered, only to be greeted by silence.
"Finally, she answers." A very familiar voice said.
That's if hearing your own voice on the other end of the line qualified as familiarity.
"Who is this?" I breathed.
A cold, bone shattering laugh rang through the phone, and I shivered in fear. "Would you really like to know?"
I shook my head, my heart in my stomach. "I'm hanging up."
"That won't be necessary." The phone fell out of my hand as footsteps resounded behind me. "Hey, twinnie...happy to see me?" I almost tripped on my own feet as I swiftly turned around to be greeted by my mirror reflection. "Feels like staring in the mirror, right?" Except, mirror reflections did not speak.
"How..." I don't think she could ever explain how this girl that looked exactly like me, was standing in front of me right now. "How did you get in here?" I asked with a shaky voice.
She took gracious steps closer, and I couldn't even take a step back.
She looked exactly like me; except she had a dark aura. She was dressed in all black, including jeans, a leather jacket, and high-heeled leather boots.
She stopped in front of me and pushed my hair out of my face, and then she caressed my cheeks, her touch nearly freezing me to death.
"Jeez! Get a grip, sister," She whispered in my ear.
It took some time to realize that we were in my lair, and I stepped away from her. "You have five seconds to get out of here, or else I'll call my parents," I warned.
She threw her head back and laughed out loud, that alone sending warning bells through my head. "Who? Your drunkard mother who's passed out, and your useless stepfather who can't even stand up to her?" She mocked, her face turning serious. "Honey, they won't hear you. Everyone in this house is drugged out of their minds."
"What do you want?" I asked with my hand behind my back while involuntarily searching for something useful.
Every second I spent with her; I began to realize that maybe she was not here for games.
We walked around in circles, and I focused my eyes on the kitchen cupboard, searching for a knife. When I set my eyes on a set of knives a few meters from me, I didn't hesitate, I jumped to the cutlery holder and grabbed one big kitchen knife. "Stay the hell away from me!" I waved the knife in the air. She ignored me and took a step forward. "Stay right there, or I swear I will kill you," I warned shakily.
"Kill me?" She asked. "You can't kill what's already dead." I felt the air escape my lungs as her eyes turned a bright red.
What the hell was she?
She chuckled and moved towards me, and I knew right there and then that I could never hurt her with the knife. So, I did the first thing that came to mind; I pushed her back, causing her to hit the sink.
"Bad mistake, twinnie." Her eyes glowed a furious red, and she moved her hands in the air, gathering dark smoke around me.
I felt trapped and couldn't move a muscle as the smoke engulfed me.
She picked the knife I dropped and then came to so stand in front of me. "This is going to hurt like hell," she said cynically, her voice bare of any emotion. "The only good thing is that you won't remember anything in the morning."
