From the day Karabelo murdered Sihle, I never spent another second resting.
There was simply no time to rest.
When Clay dropped me off at home, I went straight to the kitchen and drank every remedy I could find to free myself of Karabelo's spell.
I went as far as performing another ceremony to get her completely out of my system.
The last thing I wanted was for her to rip my soul out again, that was the most painful thing ever, because she was merciless.
If I ever doubted that the girl was evil before, she proved me right when she killed Sihle, she proved me right when she turned my water into blood. She really wanted to finish me at all costs.
If Tiffany wasn't the person she was, Clay and I would have probably ended up in prison.
She called earlier today to tell me that the blood that was found in that bottle matched Sihle's, and to also warn me to get ready for battle.
I was having visions, and there was a lot of restless spirits; I could hear Claudia's voice in my head calling for help, and Cecilia was all over the place.
Lesego was in mortal danger, and if I didn't get rid of her sister, they would end up killing her.
Everything was starting to fall into place as Tiffany and I continued putting together pieces of this puzzle.
We discovered that Bridgette and Betty were the ones that kidnapped Nomalanga's baby, and she knew this, but for some reason, she didn't want to admit it.
I felt like I was biting more than I could chew, because literally everything depended on me at this moment, I had no other choice.
Thank my ancestors, I was free of Karabelo's curse; and thanks to Sihle, I now knew what I needed to do.
One thing that people failed to understand about my gift was that I didn't choose when everything was to happen, an ancestor could decide to use me at any given time, under any circumstances.
And that morning was no different.
I was in the bedroom cleaning up after yet another ceremony when a sudden intense pain hit my chest, and for a moment I couldn't breathe; it felt like my body was on fire and my lungs were closing up on me.
However, that only lasted for a second before a new ancestor took charge of my entire body.
I felt revived and powerful, and most importantly, I was filled with newfound determination and freedom in my practice.
I was already in my shawls and beads, so I grabbed two clay bowls from the floor, one filled with muthi and the other with dry herbs.
I grabbed my tail and ran out of the house like a woman possessed, and I wasn't surprised when I felt Karabelo's energy from their gate.
I fished out a matches and burned the incense, leaving it at the door, and then I took the tail and used it to spray the muthi around the yard so that she wouldn't escape.
Ever since this saga began, I learnt one thing about this life, and it was the fact that most people die because of their ways of living; in summary – he who lives by the sword, dies by the sword.
The moment Karabelo opened the door and inhaled the smoke from the burnt Baobab roots, she went flying back as if she had been hit by an invisible force.
I stood there starstruck for a second before breaking into a chant as soon as I realised this was it.
It was over for Karabelo.
I entered the house, and the first thing that caught my attention was the ring on the woman's finger, but I did not miss the burning stare from Lesego's uncle.
The woman stilled when I headed approached her and opened my palm wordlessly.
The ring on her finger glowed a bright green, and that's when I knew for sure that I was on the right track.
She handed me the ring, and I stared at it in wonder’s
The powers that radiated from it were immense, but that was not the only thing I felt; the energy that came from the woman was unnatural.
I moved away from her and went to where Karabelo laid, and Karabelo screamed like she was on fire.
I could never put the pleasure that filled my heart in words, but the feeling was great.
I wanted her to suffer like all those times she tormented me and made life difficult for me.
She made breathing feel like such a luxury for me whenever she suffocated me with her spells.
"Let go of me, let me go!" She kicked and screamed; she was really giving me a hard time.
Luckily there was a helping hand and a familiar face. "Abigail, I'll help." Jack limped towards us and restrained Karabelo's arms, but Karabelo started kicking, forcing Duncan to come to the rescue.
With her legs and arms restrained, Karabelo lost it. She was like an animal possessed.
"Abigail!" I turned to the source of the voice in question. "Ask her where Lesego is, she's gone, and we have no idea where they took her. She's in danger."
"I know," I said before turning back to the girl in question.
I hovered over Karabelo and asked, "Where is Lesego?"
"You will have to kill me," she spat, "But you can't, can you?" My entire body froze as Karabelo broke into a maniacal laughter.
She was right, which is what made this whole thing dangerous. I had to be careful when extracting her powers to make she didn't die from the force, because if Karabelo dies, so does Claudia.
"You'd better start talking, Karabelo, or else I'll call the police," Jack threatened, but I shook my head at him.
There was only one way to deal with her, because I knew she wasn't going to come clean about what they did. At least not without a push.
There's a popular saying that money is the root of all evil, and it is true, even in this case, but if there was one thing nobody acknowledged was the fact that the heart was the core to all evil.
With people like Karabelo, that's where their powers rested.
I placed the ring on her open palm, and she screamed like crazy.
"No, no, no please! It was either me or her, I didn't mean to," she cried. "Mom put some drug in your food last night to make sure that you sleep for a very long time!" She blurted out.
She was baiting, stalling the truth.
"She what?" Vincent spoke for the first time since I arrived.
"When we all went to bed, Lesego took off her ring, but I didn't see where she put it. I alerted mom, and she called Ryan and Lwandle to come." I felt like crying at the mention of my husband's name. "We needed help to get Lesego out of here, because she was not drugged like the rest of you, she did not eat last night." I removed the ring so that she could breathe.
"How could you?" Jack asked, but I doubt he was ready to hear the answer to that question.
"Where is she?" I asked.
The way she openly spoke without any effort bothered me, clearly, she didn't think I was going to let her go, did she?
"We drove her to Clay's apartment, where Jessica was waiting. They attacked her, and she could be dead by now. Your husband killed her," she taunted.
I shut my eyes, refusing to let the tears out.
"But why?" Vincent asked, but Karabelo continued staring at me with determination in her eyes. "Your own sister, your own flesh and blood."
"We have to find her!" His wife said, getting up from the couch.
Karabelo smirked like she had just won the lottery.
She really thought I was going to let her go.
Well, think again! Without warning, I placed the ring on her chest, and the growl that escaped her lips set everyone on edge.
I don't know if anyone saw it, but her dark powers were literally flowing through her veins to her heart.
The ring glowed a dark red like the blood moon as it sucked the darkness out of her.
She was resisting the emancipation, and we were running out of time, Lesego needed us.
I had to speed up the process, so I splashed more muthi on her, causing her to convulse as the energy rushed to her heart.
Her own darkness was consuming her, and she was starting to feel what we all felt when she used her powers on us.
Her eyes were constantly changing between red and black, and her body was covered in sweat as she started to burn up.
I had to wear the ring and keep it at a small distance from her, that way it wouldn't drain the life out of her.
I felt the impact of the ring as it drained the remainder of her powers, and her body went limp.
I dropped to my knees as my ancestor fought the darkness from consuming me.
Jack and Duncan let go of Karabelo and rushed to my aid, but I stopped them.
"Don't come any closer to me!" I shouted in a deep voice, and then I quickly pulled out the ring and threw it on the floor.
It changed colours between green and red as the battle between good and evil ensured in that small pendant, until the green propelled and intensified before an immense hue flooded the house, getting rid of every bit of darkness that remained behind.
We all remained still until everything vanished into thin air, and the ring went back to neutral.
Silence filled the space before Karabelo woke up and made the run for it.
Jack and Vincent tried to go after her, but she was totally helpless, she was no use to them.
"Let her go, we don't have time to go after her!" I shouted after them as I got to my feet. "We need to find Lesego."
"For your own good, you better pray nothing happens to her," Vincent warned and stormed out of the house.
