"It all started when Eleanor was 25. Her brother, Vincent, had impregnated a girl named Rorisang Medupe.
Rorisang's father had just died and he left her a mansion.
Eleanor's mom was so happy when she found out that she was going to be a grandmother.
It happened that Eleanor was also pregnant, but she had kept it a secret. But after seeing her mother's reaction to Rorisang's pregnancy, she thought that she would be happy too when she heard of her own daughter's pregnancy.
The woman was not happy, in fact, she was very disappointed that her daughter had fallen pregnant out of wedlock; she opted to keep the pregnancy a secret, because she wanted me to give up Eleanor's child for adoption.
She treated her badly and called her names, and yet she praised Rorisang all the time like she was a Goddess.
Rorisang even asked that your mother's family moved into her mansion with her.
You see, your mother comes from a rich family, her mother was rich; she owned different clothing boutiques and she was famous. She even built a fashion school, Edwards-Nichols school of Fashion. She owned a couple of estates and sent her children to the best schools ever.
After your mother completed high school, she didn't have to go to University or try to look for a job – who needed a job when their mother was a millionaire?
Vincent on the other hand went to study business and followed on his mother's footsteps, he has a couple of schools around, including Golden Hall.
Anyway, Vincent and his mother moved in with Rorisang, while your mother remained in her own apartment. Your mother was jealous of Rorisang, because her own mother treated Rorisang as if she were her own child. That's when she started to develop feelings that she couldn't describe then; she became hateful and spiteful – she hated Rorisang and Susanna with everything in her body.
She believed that Rorisang was the beginning of all her problems, so, she started plotting on how to get rid of her.
She asked her then boyfriend, Trevor Clements, to move in with her, after all she was pregnant with his child.
Your mother's obsession with Rorisang was getting worse by the day, she tarnished Rorisang's name at school when she posted on the school blog, "A+ student pregnant at 21." She cost her all her bursaries, forcing Rorisang to drop out of school.
However, things backfired when Rorisang only grew closer to Vincent and her mother-in-law.
Since her plans were failing, she turned her obsession towards the unborn babies.
Rorisang's pregnancy was 8 weeks younger than Eleanor's, although they found out about hers first.
After Trevor Clements moved in with her, they got married, and about 7 months later, Eleanor gave birth to a baby girl, but she died at birth.
Eleanor did not tell anyone, unfortunately, Trevor Clements and his father were out of the country.
Not even a few days later, Rorisang gave birth to twins.
Your mother infiltrated the hospital through the help of a friend, Nomalanga, and they stole the babies. But not before murdering Rorisang.
However, they made everyone believe that Rorisang had run away after losing the babies.
Her brother was devastated of course, but as soon as he met Eleanor's babies, he healed.
She named the twins Lesego and Karabelo just like their real parents were planning to.
She moved into the mansion with her mother and Vincent, and they lived happily ever after.
That was until her mother found out what she'd done five years later when the babies started to look like Rorisang.
Seeing as her mother was going to expose her and ruin her life, she plotted to kill her.
Her mother died in a car accident.
When they turned 12, the twins started their high school journey, but they happened to cause a lot of trouble together.
So, Eleanor decided to send Karabelo away.
She had full custody of the girls after she and Trevor Clements divorced when the twins turned 10, because she was pregnant with Jack's child.
So, she sent Karabelo to a fashion school, and not just any fashion school – Edwards-Nichols School of Fashion.
With her mom declared dead, things were very smooth for her.
She was a billionaire, and she had no other family other than Vincent and Eleanor, as well as the twins; so, she had included all of them in the will.
That was the perfect chance to groom Karabelo for the perfect future, she started to manipulate her and made her believe that no one cared about her.
She convinced Karabelo that she was the only one who cared and loved her.
As close as she and Lesego were, they started to drift apart, and Karabelo distanced herself from everyone else but Eleanor."
"So, you are telling me that Karabelo and I were not separated at birth?" I finally asked, and Cecilia shook her head. "But then if that's the case..."
Then it meant my entire life was a complete lie, it meant that there were parts of my life I did not even remember living.
I didn't understand anything at all.
Why couldn't I remember anything?
Did they have my memory erased?
"Remember what I told you the first time we met at the hospital?" She asked.
I nodded timidly. "I need to uncover all the secrets around me."
"Yes."
"But how do I know what is real and what is not?"
"Learn to trust your instincts, believe in yourself. But in doing that, avoid trusting anyone completely. Yes, there are people willing to help, but everyone has their own agenda; that is why they are not telling you everything."
I took a shaky breath. "I can't continue staying here then, as long as I'm in here–"
"You don't see what is happening out there."
Abigail and Bridgette had already left, and Mrs Martins was on her way out.
I would leave after her.
I had to go out there and take charge of my life, but I only had one worry.
"Cecilia..." She was nowhere to be found; she had completely disappeared.
That was another thing I had to get used to – that I was dealing with dark forces and spirits.
And the cherry on top of the cake, I had to figure out my own spiritual life.
