By the time we returned home I was anxious. I couldn't help wondering what they were planning.
What surprised me was finding mom cooking in the kitchen, the strangest part was how she was singing and dancing in joy. Karabelo, Duncan, and Jack were in the sitting room, and Uncle Vincent is nowhere to be found.
Apparently, he went to look for Nthabiseng.
"I'm going to take a shower," I said to Nthabiseng.
"Me too." She said with a yawn.
I noticed Isadora and mom exchanging looks, but I chose to ignore them.
The front door opened and my uncle literally barged in.
Nthabiseng ran to him, and he left the door open and hugged her.
"I'm so sorry for leaving the way I did," she apologized when she pulled away.
Uncle kissed her on the head. "It's okay," he said softly. This saddened me, because it made me realize how much I missed Clay. "Hey, come here." I looked up in confusion, I was not sure who he was speaking to. "Lesego," he prompted, opening his arms for me. I walked up to him, and he hugged us both. "No matter what happens, I want you know that I love you guys."
His statement scared me more than anything I'd heard in the last few days.
I noticed the change in Karabelo and mom's faces, and she got up from the couch and went upstairs. I rolled my eyes at her actions; it wasn't our fault that she insisted on pushing everyone away.
"You will also find someone, you know? Don't lose hope. Plus, that Clay guy looks promising," he joked.
This caused mom to choke, and Karabelo who was coming from upstairs to stand still, her face turning red while her eyes burned holes into my skull.
"No, uncle, I don't want to be in a relationship," I lied. Gosh, I wanted to get married already! "I'm going to shower." I kissed him on the cheek and hugged Nthabiseng.
I walked past Isadora who looked at me from head to toe. "Hey, twinnie," I mocked, but she ignored me.
I went to my room and before I could open the door, I realized that I forgot something.
I walked back downstairs and met uncle and Nthabiseng on the way to their room.
I got to the sitting room and hugged Duncan and Jack from behind. They both turned around and smiled when they realised it was me. "I love you guys!" I said hastily and ran back upstairs before they could say anything.
When I got to my room, I found that it was a total mess; my clothes were all over the show, my toiletries had been mixed all together, including products I was yet to open.
I felt anger rushing through my veins, how could she have done this within a few minutes? I mean, she took off all my bed covers, she tore down my curtains and she drenched everything else in water. Did she really hate me that much to do all this to me?
That's it! There was no way I would stay with her after this, I had to kick her out.
I walked out of my room and headed downstairs. "Karabelo!" I yelled.
I found everyone standing in the sitting room, except for Nthabiseng.
"Lesego, what's wrong? Why are you so angry?" My uncle asked, but I ignored him and went to Karabelo.
"I want you out of my room, RIGHT AT THIS MOMENT!"
She stood right there looking all innocent.
"Lesego, what's going on?" My uncle asked again, but this time I chose to answer him.
"I am sick and tired of this...brat! If she's not stealing my boyfriend, she's blaming me for her problems. If she's not watching me sleep, then she's destroying my room. I WANT HER OUT OF HERE!" I spat, not taking my eyes off her.
She started crying, but I knew she was just acting. I was sick of her taking advantage of me, but I had no other choice. I tried my best to keep the whole Dineo saga out. I looked at her one last time and went back upstairs.
I took a shower in the guestroom and took some pyjamas from one of the closets. It was still a bit early, but I was planning for an early night.
By the time I finished showering, my room was clean and Nthabiseng had put new curtains and bed covers for me. I'm quite sure she put the clothes in the laundry room.
I headed downstairs to find everyone settled at the dinner table. I happened to just remember that I had a cell phone and I left it somewhere in the guestroom. I went back upstairs to find my phone, and by the time I came back, there was a new face in the room.
I felt like my heart was going to stop.
"Who are you?" I breathed, standing on the last stair. Everyone looked at me with eyes filled with confusion. Why were they looking at me like that? This was the same woman who attacked me in my room months ago.
"Lesego, don't you remember Lwandle from the hospital?" Mom asked smoothly, and I shook my head. "What? Are you sure you are feeling okay today?"
I glared at her. Couldn't she see what was happening here?
"Lwandle with white hair?" I asked. Everyone on the table looked at me, still filled with confusion, but my mom and Karabelo looked shocked, as well as the spirit.
"Lesego, are you okay?" My uncle asked.
I frowned. "Have you forgotten that she is possessed?"
They all start giving each other looks. Why were they treating me like I was crazy?
"But she does not have white hair, does any one of you here see white hair?" My mom asked in defence, and as expected everyone shook their heads. Everyone except for Nthabiseng. "Do you perhaps, Nthabiseng?" Mom asked, but she did not answer.
Nthabiseng looked at me and nodded in affirmation.
I wasn't crazy, she saw it too.
I turned to my mother and Karabelo with my head held high. "But I do," I challenged, my eyes trained on our ghostly guest. Her presence brought back bad memories, but I had to own up and not let them have the satisfaction of seeing me broken. "She is dark in complexion, she has long straight grey hair, dark lips, black eyes, and she's wearing a white gown."
She was truly an angel of death.
I fiddled with the ring on my finger, trying to keep it together, but when Lwandle saw it, she trembled and stormed out of the house, leaving everyone in shock.
