Online Dating (Part 14)

~Continuation of my Jarbyn one shot "Online Dating". Read it.

Nobody's POV:-
Jack was on his way back home when he got a call from Sydney.

"Hey", he said after answering.

"Where the hell are you, Jack?", Sydney said into the phone and she sounded pissed and angry."I've been worried sick".

"I'm on my way home", Jack answered."I'll be home in 5".

"Okay",Sydney said and Jack hung up, continuing to walk back home.

Once he arrived at his front door, he opened it and went inside. He saw Sydney sitting on the couch with Olivia laying down on it with her head on Sydney's lap and was fast asleep. Sydney was caressing her hair softly.

"Hey", he mumbled, approaching them and Sydney who looked angry a second ago immediately softened her gaze after seeing Jack's face.

"What happened?", she said, scooting a little to the side to make room for Jack on the couch.

"I fucked up again, Syd", he spoke softly.

"Language", Sydney warned. Although Olivia was asleep there was no telling when she would wake up.

Jack sighed and nodded.

"How?", Sydney asked, questioning Jack's early statement as she turned towards him.

"I kissed him. Again!", Jack answered and started to tell Sydney all about what happened.

"Ugh. Why am I such an idiot?", he said as soon as he finished speaking.

"Why did you kiss him, if I may ask?", Sydney questioned.

"Well, he's just so sweet and caring. I think in the moment I felt like kissing him one last time would make me feel better but it made everything worse", Jack said.

"So you like him? Why not date him then?", Sydney said."You're clearly doing this to make him fall for you".

"I don't know what I'm doing to be honest. I'm scared but I also want to be with him. Sometimes my anxiety gets the better of me and I start to imagine the worst case scenarios", Jack said."I honestly don't know what to do".

"From what you've told me, I think you're just really confused", Sydney said."Staying apart for a while will help you figure things out".

"But that's the thing. I can't stay away from him. It's too hard", Jack said.

"Listen to me", Sydney said moving a little and placing her hands on either of her brother's shoulders."For once, don't listen to your heart. Listen to your mind. Which is clearly the more logical one right now. You need time alone. Or you'll keep suffering like this".

"But-", Jack started.

"No. Let me finish", Sydney said interrupting."Look, Corbyn's not ready to accept you back yet. You clearly saw it from yesterday. You both need time and I know it's going to hurt you but it's for the best. Just take some time to figure things out. You're clearly confused and maybe he is too".

"Okay", Jack mumbled."Thanks".

"No Problem", Sydney said, pulling him into a hug."Now go get ready. You have to go to work soon".

"Okay", Jack said nodding and got up, slowly trudging up the stairs.
