Online Dating (Part 9)

~Continuation of my Jarbyn one shot "Online Dating". Read it.

Nobody's POV:-
Two weeks. It had been two weeks since Jack had heard from Corbyn. He had tried to apologise by messaging him but always chickened out at the last minute. What was he supposed to say anyway? That he was too scared to start a relationship with Corbyn because he might end up leaving him as well. How was he supposed to tell Corbyn he was scared?

He sighed as he closed his phone yet again. Trying to call Corbyn had turned out to be useless too. He headed down the stairs and  into the kitchen, setting everything up and starting to make breakfast when the front door opened. He stopped his work suddenly, surprised. Who was here at this hour?

"Hey", he heard and immediately jumped.

He turned around to see Sydney, with a hand on his heart.

"Oh my god Syd. Don't scare me like that. You almost gave me a heart attack", he said.

"Sorry", Sydney said."What are you doing?".

"Making breakfast", Jack answered adjusting everything.

"I'll do it. You go sit down", Sydney said and Jack sighed.

"Syd. I can do it. I'm not a baby anymore", he insisted.

"I know that. I just... Never mind", Sydney said approaching him and taking the batter from him.

"You just what?", Jack asked immediately.

Sydney sighed. She knew Jack would ask her that.

"It's nothing", Sydney said.

"Just tell me", Jack said softly.

"I'm just worried about you. Ever since you know...what happened...you've been barely sleeping or eating. Olivia's worried about you too you know", Sydney said.

"I know Syd", Jack sighed out."I just need to clear my head".

"I know. Just be careful. Your health is more important", Sydney said as she poured the batter on the stove.

Jack nodded and sat down on one of the kitchen chairs. Olivia came in right then and sat beside her dad.

"Good morning", she greeted both of them, rubbing her eyes.

"Morning", Jack said smiling at her.

"Morning", Sydney said, placing the pancakes on her plate."Eat up".

"Thanks Aunty", Olivia said smiling as she dug in.

Sydney put two pancakes on Jack's plate then sat down herself.

"Olivia. Is your speech ready?", Sydney asked.

"Yes aunt", Olivia answered.

"Good", Sydney said smiling at her.

"Dad. You're coming today, right?", Olivia asked Jack.

Jack startled out of his thoughts.

"Yeah honey. I am", he said smiling then looked to Sydney for help as Olivia began eating her breakfast again.

Sydney looked at him, mouthing a later then went back to eating her own breakfast.

"Okay. I'm off. See you guys later", Olivia said, getting up.

"Okay sweetie. Bye", Jack said smiling.

"Bye", Sydney said waving.

Olivia exited and Sydney immediately turned back to Jack.

"Don't tell me you forgot", she whispered.

"I'm sorry", Jack said holding up his hands."I didn't know".

"She has a function today and you need to be there", she said.

"Are you coming?", Jack asked.

"Of course I am. But she needs her dad there too", Sydney said.

"I know. I'll be there", Jack said.

"You better".

~Later~
Jack barely made it to Olivia's function on time because of the traffic. When he arrived the function was just getting started. He quickly sat down beside Sydney, who had saved a seat for him, and looked around for Olivia. He finally spotted her, shyly looking out from the curtain. He smiled and waved at her as she caught his eye. She waved back and he gave her a thumbs up. She smiled and disappeared behind the curtain as they slid shut.

He cheered as Olivia came on stage and began her speech. She smiled and continued grinning widely.

Once the function was over, he got up to head towards Olivia, Sydney had already gone to her, when he suddenly bumped into someone.

"Hey! Watch where you're...", he started but cut himself off as he saw who it was.

"Corbyn", he managed to mumble out after a few minutes of shock.

"Jack", the latter said looking as surprised to see him as he was.

Oh shit!, Jack thought as he looked at Corbyn.
