I parked my car in our driveway surprised to see Andrew's car in front of me. Maybe he came home early to have lunch? Exiting my car, I ran up the porch steps to find the front door unlocked. That's weird, I locked it when I left. Quietly, I entered, shutting the door behind me, not making a sound. All of the lights were off and the curtains were drawn shut. Why is it so dark in here? There's no way he's having lunch right now. What is he doing? Where did I put my laptop? If he wanted to have lunch at home, why didn't he call me so we could have eaten together?

"Andrew?" I asked, my voice hoarse and barely above a whisper.

It was then that I recognized Eliza's purse resting on the foyer table next to Andrew's jacket. It was so casual of a placement that I was shocked to see it. Was I dreaming? I need to drink less coffee if I'm really seeing things. Suddenly, a muffled bang above my head caught my attention making me jump at the sudden noise before the sound of a woman's laughter fluttered down the stairs, circling around me.

With my jaw set, I made my way up the carpeted stairs not making a sound. My heart thundered against my chest as each step I took I got closer and closer to our bedroom. What I saw shocked me to my core, my heart shattering into a million pieces as I caught a glimpse of a full head of brown curls, Eliza's lips crashing to Andrew's. They were both entangled in each other, so focused that they hadn't noticed I was standing in the doorway. I couldn't tear my eyes away, hoping this was just a nightmare before I found my voice.

Then my husband saw me, and the instant shock and fear consumed him. I couldn't help but wonder why, it was my birthday. He should know, better than anyone. "Emilia! What are you — What are you doing here?" Andrew asked, immediately pushing himself away from Eliza who was just moments before hovering over his brazenly naked body. All I could do was stare, my mind suddenly numb and I could barely breathe. "I promise you it's not what you think."

"Wha-What am I doing here? What is she doing here!" I was livid. The anger billowing and ready to burst. I turned to Eliza, one of my dearest friends who has been lying to me this entire time. Liam didn't exist. How long has this affair been going on? Were there others? How could they do this to me?

"I thought you were at the library." Eliza said as she pulled the blanket up to cover herself.

"I was at the library and now I'm home and I swear to God if you don't get dressed and get out of my bed Elizabeth..." I couldn't finish my sentence.

My resolve was breaking. I knew that if anything else happened today they would see what would happen when a normally calm and well-put-together woman gets betrayed. I wanted an explanation. No, I needed one. I wanted to burn the baseball he had signed when he managed to catch a foul ball when we were dating all of those years ago. He had it encased in glass and showcased it as if it were a trophy. A sharp inhale later, I was looking back at Andrew, noticing how insanely calm he was, and wondered if I really knew him at all.

In mere seconds, she was running out of our room, her clothes in her arms. After a few minutes, I heard the distinct sound of our front door slamming shut. It was just Andrew and I now and I was prepared to give him a piece of my mind. With my mind racing, I couldn't help but clench and unclench my fists. "Get dressed, we need to talk."

Each step I took ached. I should have known. I should have seen it coming. Did he ever truly love me?

"Happy birthday, Emilia." I couldn't help but mumble as I eyed the liquor cabinet, "I need a drink."

I chewed the inside of my cheek knowing that alcohol wouldn't fix this mess. We needed to talk. I needed to hear what he had to say and I knew there was nothing he could say or do that would make me want to stay with him any longer. Plopping down on one of the arm chairs, I rested my elbows on my knees trying to think.
