*Just for reference Abhay is around Krish's age as well, so 6 years old*
Prabhas's Pov:
"Will you call Ma and tell her that we are running late," Anushka shouts out to me from inside the bedroom, steam fogging up her voice.
"We'll be fine Anushka, stress avaku." I set down the comb in my hands and walk into the doorway of the bathroom and lean against the door frame. She is kneeling in front of the shower and wiping Anand down with a pale yellow towel, his wet hair covered with a small hood that is attached to the towel. I lean down to flick the ears on the hood that make the towel resemble a duck.
"I know but I have to get Anand ready and finish Krithi and then me too," I can feel the stress and panic in her voice as she wipes on Anand's arms and mumbles under her breath, her straight eyebrows becoming squiggles and her head shaking side to side.
"Don't stress baby, I can get Anand ready. You finish Krithi and then you can get ready," I move aside when she slowly carries a wiggly Anand in her arms and puts him on the bed. I follow behind them as Anushka nods, pointing to the clothes laid out on the bed for Anand.
Normally when we go to my parents house it's pretty casual but this morning Ma did a pooja and it's her and Nanna's anniversary so she wanted us to dress nicer and make the dinner more formal. Miheeka, Rana, and their kids are coming, Sam, Chay, and Abhay are coming, and then us four. Ma and Nanna wanted to keep it pretty small just at their house because inviting all the in-laws and other sets of parents would've been harder to schedule so she kept it to just our 3 families and them.
"Your kurta is the same one that I'm wearing so we are matching," I say as I start to button the few white buttons that are on the top of the orange kurta he's wearing. He gasps, happily jumping up and down as he nods, looking at the kurta I'm wearing, the same color and same style as his, "Yeah! Only we match because boys are cool," He nods his head holding his hand up for a high five which I give to him before laughing.
"Don't let your mom hear that," I tell him, carrying him off the bed before grabbing his comb.
"Don't slide on the ground ok, otherwise you'll get your pants dirty," I tell him, making him look down at the dark blue jeans covering his legs. I know Anushka will pack extra clothes, especially if we stay the night, but just for pictures and for the first half of dinner, it's better if everyone looks clean and nice.
"I want to do it," He reaches up to grab the blue comb out of my hands and just comb his hair from one side to another, no uniform motion. He messes it up even more, making me shake my head and I take it back from him, combing it down to one side so it looks neater. It's still a little damp but his hair is short so it dries fast.
"Are you excited to play with everyone, I know it's been a while since you've seen them." I set the comb down and fix his kurta before I lead him out of the room.
"I want to show them my new cars. Amma said I can pick 3 cars to take and she'll hold them in her purse for me," He tells me with widened eyes and a big smile as he looks up at me while we walk out of the room and into the kitchen. I smile at his excitement as he starts to go on about the features his hot wheel cars have and how he wants to show the backflip the cars can do to everyone.
He looks just like Anushka when he does that, his voice higher than normal, his eyes all big and his smiley, taking over even the brightness of the lights in the room.
"That's so cool, Anand. You can show Thatha too, he will want to see." He nods happily before sipping on his glass of water.
I bend down to let Cheerio lick my hand when I feel his head rub against my leg with his tail wagging and mouth open.
