Chapter 29
_________
The metallic hospital chair under me is cold, making my body shiver with goosebumps, but my legs are still too weak to stand properly. It's early morning and I didn't have time to change my outfit. Event though I feel stupid and cold looking like this, after everything that's happened, it's the last thing that bothers me right now.
My body is going through the last effects of the drug until it completely goes away out of my system. While sitting and watching over sleeping Lara on a hospital bed, I kept going on the toilet every few minutes hoping to get it out of my system by vomiting. I think it worked, because my mind is finally clearing up and my sight is almost perfect again. It was about time.
Draco made sure Lara had a soft landing - he casted a spell and made a big web out of everything that was near her at the time - from leaves to small branches that left red marks and bruises on her skin. At least she's still alive. She wasn't supposed to be, if it wasn't for Draco. I still can't believe what happened.
For the past few hours I've been sitting in the empty hospital wing, I haven't said a word to anyone except him. After he saved me, he dropped me off in here and told the nurse to take care of me until he brought Lara back. She was unconscious when she came, same as now. The nurse says it can take days to get the drug out of her system. She must've taken more before she offered one to me.
Everything would be good if it ended just like that - released from the hospital to continue our normal lives. I have yet not been forced to talk about what really happened last night with anyone, not even Draco. I told him I needed time, which is true. After all, the headmaster and other teachers didn't want to ruin their Halloween party. And I get it.
"What did you do?" I ask Lara, but the question gets stuck in the air.
I'm holding her cold hand in mine while my head is laying on her bed beside her. Tiredness comes to me naturally, but every time I close my eyes, I see the darkness below the Astronomy tower. My body flinches every time I fall asleep and makes me wake up, this continues on and on until I go get a coffee to the Great hall.
Its totally empty, thank gods. All the decorations and round tables are gone, replaced with the typical four long ones. It looks like the Great hall again. The breakfast is already being served, although I don't think anyone will set foot in there for another two or three hours. I bet everyone's tired from the party. I wish I was. Just from that.
I don't know where Draco is, I haven't seen him since he dropped me at the hospital wing, which was around two o'clock in the morning. I wished he showed up and talked to me, I need him. I need to be in his presence or else I'll go crazy. He's the only person keeping me sane.
I grab a cup of hot coffee with a steam coming out of it and as I walk back to the hospital wing, I don't meet a single soul. I think about my friends. I've heard the nurse talking to someone behind the door as I was pretending to be asleep. It seemed like Pansy and others were trying to get in, but the nurse didn't let them.
Back in the hospital wing, as I turn to the place where Lara is sleeping, a mix of shock and surprise goes through my body. They're all here, they came to see me. Or her. Both of us.
All four of them are standing next to Lara's bed, only Zion is sitting on the nearest chair with his head in his hands. They're all in their everyday outfits, making me look stupid in my white swan costume.
I sit on my chair and sip from the coffee, almost letting out cuss words as it's too hot. I can't stand it, I can't stand this silence between us.
"So," Pansy clears her throat, "care to explain?"
