Chapter 62
___________The sun didn't rise and shine, not even the morning of the Christmas Eve. The sky is sad and gray again, exactly the type that makes you feel like nothing will ever be good.
Which was partially why I did not want to wake up. Not even after hours of just laying in our new bed, inhaling Draco's scent that still lingers in the white sheets. Even after I got rid of the old wooden pallets bed and built the new one I bought for him, I didn't wash the sheets. His scent would be gone, he's gone.
I did get up after all, not willingly. Theo called me and told me to meet him in for presents. I dressed up into the thickest sweaters I found and ran down the stairs toward the Slytherin common room through a completely empty castle.
There were a few people sitting around the fireplace with cups of hot cocoa or tea in their hands, the only thing warming them along with the fire. And this is not even the coldest it can get in here - the freezing days usually hit around the first weeks of January.
I find Theo staring at the Christmas tree with presents under it, including mine for him. He gets excited when he notices me and hurled me into a bear hug, which is very needed after the lonely night I've been through.
I don't know how I'll ever be able to really sleep alone now that I spent the whole month cuddled up with Draco each night. It seems impossible.
Without many words, we get into unpacking. He goes first - totally not giving a single fuck about the beautiful gift packaging with huge red ribbon that came with the price and scraping it all off until he found the thing that laid inside. His eyes go wide, his mouth gasp and he just stares at me in complete surprise until I start laughing.
"You're-" he stuttered, "you're kidding me! It's not the-"
"Ultra-fast-new-whatever broom that you obsessed over for weeks? Fuck right it is." I say with a smirk, making sure the other people in the common room hear what a friend I am. Of course, there is no need to - Theo's excited screams are perfectly enough.
"I can't wait to fly it, oh my-"
I'm not sure if he'll ever put the broom down now that it's in his hands, stroking the long wooden piece with sparks in his eyes. He's a freak into brooms, he always was. Theo used to be the captain of the Slytherin Quidditch team...until he got banned for beating up a Gryffindor's keeper. He totally deserved it, though.
"I'll go watch you." I say with a smile.
"No..." he shakes his head, not taking his eyes off the broom, "you'll fly with me."
I don't really know what to expect while carefully unpacking his present for me. Not that there is any need to - he wrapped it up himself, which I can tell from the moment I noticed the Christmas 0 tree.
"I'm sorry for the...well," he notices me struggling 0 with the duck tape that he put all over, "I'm trying to get better every year,"
I finally manage to somehow get rid of the wrapping paper with funny penguins on it.
"At least you tried."
It's a...box.
There's a pair of light purple warm fuzzy socks that I grab first, because they're the biggest piece in there and hold it in front of me.
"Because you always complain about your cold feet...so, yeah..." Theo explains with red blushing cheeks.
"I know! Thank you so much!"
Even though I have tons of them, these will be my favorite just because they were gifted. From Theo.
It doesn't take me long to figure out that it's a box of things I like. My favourite teas, camomile and green, a matcha powder I sometimes like to use instead of coffee, sacks of herbs of all kinds and then, on the bottom, there were tons of crystals and a new deck of tarot cards.
