Delphine's POV

Sitting on my bed, I continue to stare at the wall. After I got here I was able to take a nap before my dad, that's so weird to say, came and got me for dinner. I wasn't able to unpack this afternoon so I did it after dinner.

My clothes barely filled up space, I only had one bag of my belongings. I had a few outfits my mom never bought me much and then I had a few specialties items I brought. My favorite book, It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover,  my sketchbook, and a set of pencils came with me. Before I was able to do a few odd jobs to make quick cash, the only real job I had was at one of the mechanic shops in my old town and I worked as their secretary.

The money I made I saved up. When I was packing I had to grab my cash from my hiding spaces.

Sitting in the dark I decide to turn on my lamp and pull out my sketchbook and a pencil. I sit there for an hour or two in a sort of tunnel vision. When I feel my hand having unbearable cramping I drop my pencil to see my drawing.

Smirking at my drawing I put away my stuff before staring hopelessly up at my ceiling. I refuse to go on my phone at night. I of course have one but I hate using it at night because it never fails that the next day I have a headache in the morning.

When I was younger one of my doctors thought that with my eye condition excessive light contact causes irritation. It happens to be worse at night and even worse when my phone light is the only light.

Closing my eyes I force myself to relax to try and get some more sleep.

I'm jolted awake by someone yelling outside of my room. Checking the time I see 8:34, on a Saturday morning. Don't normal people sleep in, they don't get up and yell.

Rolling my eyes I breathe in deep and force myself up. I get up to the bathroom, I turn on my shower, and wash my hair and body. I get out and quickly grab a pair of clothes. I decide on black ripped jeans and a worn-out band tee. I put on my shoes and grab my phone I leave my hair down and walk out of my room.

Following the growing voices, I walk out to the kitchen. I see Honey and Mina standing by the stove arguing with one of the boys from last night.

"Let me have one bite. That's all I'm asking for." His voice whines as he pleads with them.

"No with you one bite equals three meals," Honey warns him.

They continue to argue I stand in the doorway watching before feeling someone behind me. When I turn around I see Nico looking at me.

"Morning."

"Morning Delphine" His voice tries to sound sultry but it seems more slurred and deformed to me. I can't hide the disgusted look on my face as I turn back around and finally walk into the kitchen.

Walking in I find an apple on the counter and start eating it. Watching everyone else file in the kitchen and grab a plate from the counter.

"Hey, can I go into town I need to pick up some things?" I ask my dad while looking at him. I can't make myself call him dad out loud yet it's too weird and awkward of a word.

"Sure but you need to bring Nico or Mina with you."

"Sure."

I get up and move back to my room I grab the money that I hid last night. Some habits are hard to break I had organized my money in stacks of a hundred dollars. One was hidden under my bed, one under the nightstand, one on top of the closet, and one in the bathroom. I moved to the one under my bed and grabbed about half of the stack.

Putting it back in its spot I leave my room shutting the door. Going to the living room Nico, Mina, and the boy from earlier are standing in the living room.

"You ready?" Mina's voice draws everyone's attention to me as I nod. We all go outside to the car, Nico and the other boy sit in the front with Nico driving. Me and Mina got in the backseat. Nico started driving, he stopped at a small shopping center.

We all got out I started walking with the other trailing behind me. I walk in and find a shoe store, I go in and find a simple pair of converse, find my size and check out. I go to a few more stores finding nothing else I wanted to buy but a few more pencils.

When I'm done I go out to the car, since I went in I haven't seen any of them but I wait on my phone for them to eventually show up.

I'm now realizing I should have given one of them my number. I can't go back in time. I continue to wait for them I have resorted to sitting on the hood of the car with bags on the ground. After my phone loses a few more percentages I start to lose my patience.

With my mood dampening, I hear the yells of a few people looking up I see Nico marching over pissed and the boy who I still can remember the name of with a distressed Mina behind.

"Where the hell have you been?" Nico screams at me.

"I've been sitting here for the last twenty minutes waiting for your asses to get back here. Now, what is your problem?"

"My problem is that you ran off and we haven't seen you for almost an hour since your dad told you to stay with us."

"First of all, he said to bring one of you not stay with one of you. Second of all, you have no authority over me."

"I think I do, you are new here you have no idea how to get around which makes you an easy target."

"Well for your information I have google maps on my phone for when I get lost. And I can take care of myself thank you very much."

At this point, the others are here and watching this all happen.

"Fine get in the car. When we get back you can deal with your dad." His voice grows cold as he moves back away from me.

I grab my stuff and hop in the back seat slamming the door. On the way back no one talks or plays music.  When he pulls up to the house I get out and grab my bags. I move inside my room not sparing a glance at anyone.

No one comes to my room the entire night. Throughout the night I never close my eyes and continue to draw.
