Nico's POV
Today is the day.
Everything is set up. The flowers are perfect, the place, her. Everything.
Currently, I am at the beach with remote-controlled candles around me not yet turned on. Purple and blue flower petals are lying on the ground around me. Mina just texted me saying she and Delphine are on their way.
Trying to remember to breathe, I mess with my shirt again, looking around and waiting for the car to roll around.
This plan has been in place for months. Months ago I asked Dom what he thought and he even helped me set everything up today. Hearing the roar of a car I look up to see Mina leading a blindfolded Delphine out of the car towards me.
"Mina, I'm not doing this anymore. Take this blindfold off." Delphine's voice sounds very agitated. I knew she would be. First I left her this morning with only a note saying I'll see her later, then I had Mina get her ready all day and refused to let her see the surprise.
"Don't worry just a few more steps then you can take it off." Mina rolls her eyes at her impatience.
Delphine gets to be in front of me with a blindfold still on. Her cute dark red dress was tight on her chest loose around her legs. Her hair is down with cute curls, her shoes a dark pair of ankle boots.
"Mina," Delphine calls out for my sister who is no longer around to give us privacy. "Mina."
"Not quite Doll." Her gaze snapped up and moved around trying to find me.
"Nico?"
"Ding ding ding." A smile lights up her face.
"What's going on?" She reaches up to take off her blindfold. I catch her hand and untie it myself placing it in my pocket while she blinks adjusting her eyes.
"What is all this?" She points around us. I simply shrug and look around with her. She looks unimpressed.
"Ok ok. I may have set this up for us." She looks up at me, opening her mouth to ask questions. "Just a minute. Everything will be explained in a minute I promise." I hold up my hand as she sighs and nods.
"Delphine when I first met you I thought you would have been this stuck up, pretentious, spoiled, ungrateful-"
"Ok, I get it."
"Sorry. But you proved me wrong. Showing me just how stuck up I was for judging you. From the first moment I met you, you have been fighting me and being stubborn and I love every second of it. From finding you passed out in an alleyway and staying with you watching you work to saying I love you. I have loved everything you do. I want to experience so much more with you. Every moment with you has been perfect and I want more of those until we both die happily."
I get down on one knee holding her hand and reaching for the ring box with the other. Tears line her eyes but they don't fall. She looks down at me as I look up opening the box.
"Delphine, will you marry me?"
She doesn't answer me. Oh god did I do this too soon? We haven't even really talked about marriage.
Just as I'm about to apologize I get launched back on the sand with the air knocked out of me and a lump of hair on my face. Delphine has her hands wrapped around my neck almost cutting off oxygen.
"Is that a yes?" I choke out as she nods into my chest with her tears wetting my shirt. She sits up and moves for me to sit up and sit on my lap. I wipe away the water on her face her mascara know not so perfect. Her smile brightens as she looks at me as does mine.
Without wasting any more time I grab her face and bring her into a kiss. Holding the back of her neck, her soft lips move against mine. When I run out of breath I pull away and grab the ring box that has fallen on the sand.
I grab out the ring and place it on her finger admiring how the diamond sparkles in the retreating sunlight. She looks down at the ring and smiles and kisses me again. We stare at each other loving the moment of just us when a phone rings from my pocket.
"It's your dad." She chuckles and answers the phone for me. I don't pay attention to what she is saying only focus on her. Admiring how she will forever be mine, mine to love, mine to kiss, mine.
