Delphine's POV

It's been about half a month since school ended and as a group, we had all hung out together multiple times a week. My bruises and cuts had all disappeared my ribs were still sore when I overexerted myself and my wrist was still in a brace.

Getting up today we are going to go to a carnival and then go to a diner and then later with our parents go to a dinner for the twin's 18th birthday. Faye had planned this whole day for them. We were leaving early to spend the day at the carnival for the 'best experience' as she put it.

Getting up I put on some white-washed grey jean shorts that had some rips. I pair it with white sneakers and a tan cropped short sleeve. I put on today a gold necklace and matching earrings. I curled my hair to have loose waves.

I get ready for the day grabbing my phone and wallet. With my ribs better and my wrist more moveable I have gone back to working at the garage full time this summer. Of course, with my dad being my boss I'm allowed to have days off. So that is why having all-day plans in the middle of the week were easy for me.

Walking out of my room I see Mina in light blue shorts and a blush pink shirt tied up. Her blonde hair was up in a bun and a section of braid wrapped around it. Nico walked down with dark blonde hair in a messy look with jeans on and a black t-shirt.

We all get our breakfast eating in the kitchen. When the doorbell rings and the door opens and closes we know our friends are here.

"You can't just walk in," Faye yells at Nolan who since I've lived here never knocked or rung the bell but had just walked in the house. Faye if you could guess had always knocked and would wait for someone to answer. Leon would do whatever he was in the mood for he had multiple times knocked on the front door and then come in through the back door.

They had come into the kitchen giving us all greetings and the twin's birthday wishes. With everyone ready, we headed out to Faye's car well her mom's car. Faye had borrowed her mom's car since it was the only one that could fit us all. Faye gets in the driver's seat and has Mina sit in front of her.

Nolan and Nico get it to the second row blocking me and Leon from getting in the third row. Rolling my eye I slip past Nico and awkwardly climb over the seat almost kicking him. When did ladies first not apply anymore? I obviously did not get the memo.

With us, all in the car and buckled Faye starts to drive. Mina looks back at us and her eyes stop on Noaln.

"Nolan put your seat belt on." She orders. I can see Nolan roll his eyes but put his belt on. We drive for a small time later before pulling up in front of a fairground. There was a surprising amount of cars for being in the middle of the week. Mina and Faye get out first and wait for us. Nico and Nolan hop out leaving the door for us. Leon rolls out of the seat and hits his head on the center console.

I swing my leg over the seat straddling it and swing the rest of my body on the seat feeling the buckle digging in my back. I groan feeling my ribs act up from above me I can see Nico holding in his laugh. I flip myself to sit up and slide out of the seat almost falling out of the car barely catching myself.

Nico shuts the door after me as I make sure that my phone and wallet were with me. Don't ask how I still had them. The rest have started to walk away from us leaving me and Nico a few feet behind me.

When we get to the carnival we let Mina and Nico pick the first activities. Mina picks to go do some games first. We head over to the games and play for a while before getting bored. Leon wanted to go the rides and then come back to the games so that's what we did.

Nico had made us go on this ride that sent us up and down. I sat next to Nico and when they took us up it was slow and then when it dropped I grabbed Nico's hand screaming. When we finally got off I swear my ears were ringing, I still had a death grip on Nico's hand dragging him with me as I rushed off.

I could hear Leon's psycho laugh behind me mocking my screaming. When they join us still laughing at my expense I release that I am still holding Nico's warm hand I let go muttering an apology under my breath.

"Well, I for one am ready for another ride," Nolan spoke as he looked me dead in the eye.

"Yeah you can go I'm gonna go find a nice kiddy game to play." I bring up my arms holding small fists mocking myself.

"NO, please come on please join us. I don't want you to be alone." Mina speaks out pouting at me.

"I'll go with her I need a break," Nico spoke shocking us all as Nolan and Mina nodded and grabbed Faye and Leon's hands dragging them away.

"Why are you joining me?"

"Believe it or not I actually enjoy your company" He walks away from me causing me to jog after him.

We find a few games and win a few superficial prizes. We get to the game where you hit the target to test your strength. Nico wanting an ego boost decided to play. When he reached up he lifted the mallet above his head bringing it down and getting it close to the top. But he cant make it quite to the top. I watch as the employee hands him a prize. He walks over with a medium-size brown teddy bear in his arms looking ridiculous.

"How was that?"

"Could have done better." He rolls his eyes and hands me the bear.

"What's this for?"

"I don't want some bear. Besides don't girls like things like this?"

"I guess. Thank you." I take the bear holding it in my arms as I do my phone has a notification.

Mina texted the group chat that they are leaving for lunch. I look over at Nico who is also holding his phone. We walk over to the car. Getting in this time easier as Nico waited for me to get in, Leo wasn't so lucky as Nolan as down and closed the door on him.

Entering the diner a sign tells us to seat ourselves. We slide into the booth in our traditional fashion with Nico and Leon on my sides. Sitting down we all order our drinks and our food before we start talking.

"Hey, Delphine I don't when your birthday is," Faye asks me.

"It already passed."

"Oh well, when was it maybe we can celebrate it next year." Faye gives me a smile along with Mina. I will never understand why they are so happy. Well, I guess Mina's mom is literally called Honey so.

"It was last month." I take a drink of my soda.

"What!" They all say loudly drawing attention from other people in the diner.

"Your birthday was last month?" Leon asks me in horror.

"Yeah, why?"

"You didn't tell us," Mina explains.

"Why would I?" I mean why would they care about my birthday?

"So that we can celebrate," Faye tells me getting more frustrated.

"Sorry I didn't seem important to tell you all." They look wide eyes at my confession.

"Of course, it would be important why wouldn't it be," Leon asks me with his tone getting more sadden.

"I've just never celebrated it before."

The waitress comes by and drops off our food. I'm the only one that says thank you as they all stare at me.

"What do you mean you've never celebrated it before?" Nico asks me making direct eye contact with me.

"When growing up before my mom was suing we never had the money to celebrate like she would tell me 'happy birthday', then after that, she just forgot about it so I never celebrated it."

They all looked sad at me, Mina ad Faye more than the others. But they all drop it and we are allowed to eat lunch without any more confrontation.

The rest of the night went by uneventfully. I took the bear Nico gave me and slept while holding it to my chest.
