Nico's POV
It's been two days since I woke up. Delphine is still asleep with no progress on when she will wake up. My doctor's plan is to have me discharged either today or tomorrow.
I want to go home but not without Delphine. My mom has been bringing me clothes and actual food for me every day, Nolan and Leon have been visiting me too and trying to cheer me up.
I'm sitting in Delphine's room holding her hand while talking to her. The doctor said that she might be able to hear us and it might speed up the process of her waking up. So far I've been telling her stories of my childhood.
"After I fell out of the tree, Mina screamed for our mom telling her I was dead. I just had the wind knocked out of me, she was always dramatic, anyway, mom came running out obviously freaked. Then when she realized I was indeed alive and okay she grounded both of us for scaring her." I lightly laugh and look at her.
Her face is still pale, I mean she always was paler than me but right now it's that sickly pale. Her cheeks no longer have any color, and her lips are pale and dry. Her hair has been braided by Mina who was convinced that she would be pissed if her hair was a mess when she woke up.
Her skin is cold to the touch, I've asked the nurses for more blankets but she still stays cold. It's fine though because when she wakes up I'll just give her my hoodie.
I rub my hand over her knuckles that are scratched. Her pale face is still covered in bruises and a few cuts. Thankfully most of them won't cause her any serious trouble. The doctor said that the most damage would be likely mental but that her lungs might have some trouble for a while, and that her arm was injured again.
Which absolutely sucks, I mean her arm strength had just gotten back to normal and now she had to start all over. They also think that her taser mark might scar from the long time it was held against her. I mean it's just one bad thing after another.
These doctors have no sense of good news.
"If you don't wake up I'm selling Odi. I'm sure I can get a good deal on him. He's annoying but some find him cute. Or maybe I'll doggy ear all of your books." I look at her waiting for a reaction. "I could move into your room ad leave my clothes all over your floor. Maybe leave a few dirty dishes on the floor." She still made no move to wake up.
I look down at our intertwined hands sighing, my eyes burning with unleashed tears.
"Please Delphine wake up. I can't imagine living without you, waking up knowing you're not next to me or downstairs. Who will tease me about my cooking, or climb on my counters? I need you, Delphine, please. I love you."
"Now you tell me." A raspy voice makes my head shoot up to an awake Delphine. Her different-colored eyes look back at me, blinking at me, waiting for me to move. My mouth drops open at some point as Delphine weakly lifts her hand up and shuts it for me.
"Your awake," I say dumbly as she rolls her eyes.
"I hope so otherwise, you're going crazy, and I can't date someone imaging me. How weird would that be?" Her voice is still raspy which shakes me out of shock and I grab her a glass of water from the pitcher the nurses have been refilling.
I had her the cup and held her sit up.
"So you gonna say it again."
"Say what?"
"You know what."
"No I don't, I think you need to remind me."
"Well I was just on unconscious so I could have imagined it all." I roll my eyes as she giggles quietly.
"I love you."
"Who wouldn't."
"Oh my God. Has anyone ever told you how possible you are?" I roll my head backward and groan.
"Hey, Goldilocks,"
"What Dolphin?"
"I love you too." I smile and give her a light kiss on her lips holding her face in my hands.
"So can you call me dad?"
