Delphine's POV
I finally decided to leave my room. It's around lunch time now and I've heard people moving and leaving. I get brave enough and leave my room.
It's a stupid idea to leave the house alone, but this atmosphere is suffocating. I googled some book stores this moring, when I lived with my mom I never had the time or security to read. The one book I do have was because one of our neighbors got me it for my birthday. With my mom i had to buy everything for myself, clothes and food became my responsibility which is why I don't have as much money as I should.
Grabbing some cash I walk out of my room only to see my dad in the living room.
"Morning."
"Morning, going somewhere?" His gaze fell on my shoes and the cash I still held in my hand.
"I going to a store." I walked over to the door.
"Great we can go together." He followed behind me. I made no move to go to his truck that was in the drive way as I walked down the sidewalk. He walked with we both stayed silent.
I checked my phone to make sure I was headed in the right direction. After about 10 minutes of walking we stopped in front of a bookstore. I walked in and browsed the shelves. My dad stayed behind me and followed me around. When I grabbed a book I would read the back. I found a couple that were interesting but I only could afford to buy one right now.
The rest would have to wait until I got a job, I wanted to save as much as I could.
I found one book that interested me the most and made my way up to the front. I payed and left. I waited outside for my dad to leave the store. When he came out we made our way back to the house.
"Why'd you only get one?"
"Until I get another job, I have to save what I have left."
"Another?"
"Before I moved I worked at a mechanic shop as a recepionist."
"You know I own a shop and I've been looking for some front desk help. If you're interested I would love to give you a shot."
"Wait really!" I stop walking and stand in front of him.
"Yeah if your interested." His calm demeanor contridicates my excited one as I restrain myself from jumping in place.
"Yes, I would love too."
"Great after school on Monday you can come down and give it a shot." Without thinking I wrap my arms around his torso. His arms move up and out of my way as I tighten my hold after a few seconds I feel his arms wrap around me. We stand in each others hold for a long minute before I back away and clear my throat.
"Wait you said school?"
"Yes, you only have less than two months you'll live."
"That was a total dad line. You really are stepping into the role of fatherhood." I pat his arm as he chuckles and we begin walking back home.
"I have to at some point." We walk in silence for a few minutes.
"Listen about yesterday I know Nico told you about what happened. I'm sorry I'm not used to having people worry about me. I didn't realize how it would affect you guys. So for that I apologize and will try in the future to put in consideration your views." I apologize to him with a very basic way but necessary way.
"Thank you for that and I realize that you will need time to adjust. I will try and give you time but i ask that you give me time aswel. If you hadn't guess I've never had to be a dad before this is all new to me."
"It's funny most people have heartfelt conversations in their house but we do it on a walk in the middle of the day where anyone can hear and see us." I purse my lips as i finish taking in the unusalness of our relationship.
"Yeah I guess your right" He lets out a little laugh as we walk up the driveway.
