Chapter 23- Sleeping

Delphine's POV

"Del wake up."

"Are you sure you didn't imagine her waking up?"

"No, I didn't imagine her waking up. Del wake up everyone's here."

Opening my eyes my dad is leaning over me moving my hair out of my face. He helps me sit up I stare at everyone. Honey and Mina and standing side by side looking over me from the foot of the bed. Cyrus is standing by the closed door, and Nico and Nolan sitting in the chairs where my dad was before. And Leon. Leon is on the other side of me with his elbow on the bed and his hands cupping his cheeks giving me a boyish grin. 

"Ok so your not crazy old man," Leon says as dad rolls his eyes and tasks his seat. 

"Why are you staring at me?"

"Well, I could talk to you and tell you more animal facts."

"NO! I'm okay with you being silent."

"I'm so happy you're awake." Mina comes over and gives me a light hug. 

"Thanks." I pat her on the back before Leon grabs my elbow and pulls it back down. 

"Your arm is broken."

"Actually my wrist is frac-tur-ed not broken," I argue back.

After we all spend time talking, they catch me up on what I missed and tell me that they missed me all those good things. When I remember more of what happened that day. 

"Who did I call?" They all go silent before looking at Nico as he looks away.

"You called Nico."

"Who checked my pulse?" They again look at Nico."Regardless you all are stupid."

"What? Why?"

"Do I really have to explain that?"

"Ehh I guess not." Leon shrugs and starts to tell me about the girl he fucked a few days ago. 

"She had this birthmark right above her-"

"Ok ok stop. When did I become a pervy guy friend?"

"I'm not sure. But Nico hasn't fucked anybody in weeks, and Nolan tries to one-up me with his fuck buddies. Btdubbs they are not hotter than mine" He smirks and points to himself leaning back up against his chair.

"Hey, Leon how about you help Mina get Delphine clothes for tomorrow," Honey suggests after having to listen to his talk. Mina grabs Leon's shoulder and drags him out before he can retaliate. I mouth 'thank you' to Honey as she nods. 

"Hey Honey this is an awful time to ask but is Honey your name or a nickname?" I purse my lips a little. She bursts out laughing as Cyrus and dad try to hide their chuckles. 

"Honey is my name, not a nickname." She manages to get out with her laughing. 

"Why would you think that?" Cyrus asks making his voice heard for the first time today.

"Oh I don't know maybe the fact that you are all in a biker club that are cliche for nicknames"

"Yeah we don't really use nicknames in the club," Nolan explains. 

"That's boring." Nolan and Nico laugh under their breaths. 

"Honey, Cyrus can I talk to you out in the hall." Dad stands up as the three go outside. Cyrus holds open the door for Honey but lets go of the door when my dad gets to the door. 

I watch as they all leave the room. Nico and Nolan stay in their chairs whispering to each other. I take the time to look at my hand, the brace wraps around my wrist and covers half of my palm. Under the brace is itchy. I use my other hand to try and reach under to scratch it. 

"Hey don't do that." Nico's voice calls out. I stare at him as he glances at my hand. I put my hand back on its rightful side. I throw my head backward in boredom my dad makes no motion to come back in. 

"Where's my phone?" I turn my head to look at the boys that were both on their phones. 

"Nope." Nolan continued to scroll through his phone while blandly answering me. 

"Think your dad has it." I nod my head and continue to stare at the wall. There is a TV in my room but I can't reach the remote and the nurse already told me that the channels were not good unless you are five or fifty.

A phone ringing draws my attention to Nico as he rolls his eyes and answers the phone.

"What?" He listens before looking at me, "Do you want anything besides clothes and a toothbrush?"

"Can you get my sketchbook? It's in the top drawer of my desk and any pencil is okay."

He repeats that back to Mina and hangs up on her without a goodbye. Finally, the three hallway buddies come back inside. Honey and Cyrus are talking to each other and my dad comes back to sit next to me. 

Getting a close-up look at him I can see the dark eye bags he has and the overall appearance of tiredness. His clothes were wrinkled and had obviously been slept in. His hair was unruly and desperately needed a brush. 

"You look like shit" He gives me a dead-pan look. 

"Thank you, darling daughter." He gives me a sarcastic smile. 

"Your welcome fatigued father." I gave him a smile. I can hear Nolan chuckle but shuts up when my dad turns to him. 

"You really should sleep." I can see Honey nod in agreement with me, "When was the last time you slept?"

"Last night."

"Let me guess in the chair. Yeah no, I want you to go home, take a shower, get a good meal, and sleep in your actual bed. I'll be fine for one night."

"I can't leave my daughter in her hospital room alone."

"I'll be fi-"

"I'll stay with her." Nico interrupts me causing me and my dad to snap our heads at him. 

"Oh perfect, alright Nolan we'll drive you home. Dominic let's go. Delphine, Mina is on her way." Honey intercepts any excuse we could make and grabs Cyrus's hand and waits by the door looking at my dad who had made no movement. 

"Fine, call me if you need anything." He stands up and kisses my forehead. He gets to the door and pauses looking at me until Honey pushes him out the door with Cyrus holding it open. 

After a few minutes of us sitting in silence, I hear my door opening again. Mina comes in with Leon behind her, she has my backpack. She sets the green bag on the ground near my bed. 

"Why are you here?" Leon looks over at Nico who resorted back to his phone. 

"I'm staying with Delphine tonight since she sent Dom home."

Leon nods with a smirk on his face as Mina looks back and forth between us. 

"Okay well, we have to go." Mina breaks the silence and grabs Leon's hand and drags him with her.
