Delphine's POV
The morning I woke up in my dad's bed he asked me what happened. I told him that I had missed him.
I went to school the next few days feeling eyes on me everywhere I went. When sitting in the lunch room I kept sitting between Nico and Leon. I started parking near the boy's bikes, walking out with them. I even started to make sure my truck was next to my dad's bike at the garage.
Getting out of my truck I walk inside, today I went straight home. I walked inside and stayed in the living room with Mina all day until Honey was home and then I went to the kitchen and sat next to my dad as she cooked dinner.
I watched as they all chatted. When dinner was done I helped Honey set the table she asked me to get the twins.
I walked to the living room and told Mina and up the stairs. I knocked on Nico's door. I waited for a second before he opened it.
He was shirtless.
"I know you own a shirt." He smirked at me.
"Just thought I would give you a taste of what your missing."
I shiver in disgust. "Just come down for dinner casa nova."
I walked away hearing him chuckle and close his door. When I'm halfway down the stairs I hear him come down.
I walk in and sit down next to my dad. We all start eating and telling each other about our days. I found out that Honey got hit on by a drunk man, and Cyrus almost beat up said drunk man. Mina passed her science test, and Nico passed by cheating off of Mina's test.
I helped Honey clean the kitchen as everyone went out to the living room. While cleaning Honey looked at me like she was fighting herself.
"Your dad told me about the other night." I look up at her, "I'm telling you this because if you ever need someone to talk to you can come to me. I know that this must be a pretty hard thing to get used to."
"Ok, I'll keep that in mind. But really I was just missing him and wanted to see him." I reassure her before joining everyone in the living room watching some random cartoon.
Going to my room I get ready for bed. Falling asleep easy for the first time in a week.
Waking up it was pitch black in my room no light from outside not even the moon. I turned on the lamp. I have this weird feeling like someone was standing over me. Looking around I see no one in my room at first glance. My window is closed and so is my door, my shoes are still thrown in front of my closet door.
I get up and get on my knees. I look under my bed seeing nothing but dust and a lost pen. I move to my closet opening the door seeing nothing out of place, I close the door going to my bathroom.
I take a deep breath getting the feeling like this is turning into a horror movie more and more. I throw open the bathroom door rushing to turn on the light. I look around violently moving the shower curtain. Nothing is in here.
The last place is the window. The curtain is still in place but I go to it anyway. Slowly opening it up I see nothing I check the lock and it's still in place. Going to close the curtain something on my window sill catches my eye.
Looking down I see only an outline, I take the risk and open the window slightly. Grabbing the object I find a black rose. When I touch the petals they turn to dust. I drop the flower backing away from it.
I close my window locking it I step away from it tripping over my own feet.
They're coming, and this is their calling card.
A burnt rose.
