Delphine's POV
Last night we had an awkward dinner I went to bed and thankfully was able to get a few hours of sleep. It's not much but it's something.
My alarm startled me out of my daydream. I get up and move to my bathroom, I start by taking a shower. When I'm out I stare at myself in the mirror looking at my eyes. Back in my old school, I would have to hide my eyes from bullies. Will today be the same?
Shaking my head I grab my contacts that make my eyes both blue. If you look close enough the eye color doesn't match exactly but they're close enough to pass as my natural eyes.
Leaving my bathroom I go back to my room and grab my clothes. A pair of black jeans, a plain white tee, and a black sweater. I grab my new pair of shoes black sneakers with a white stripe across the side.
I grab my backpack dad brought me yesterday. I walk out to the kitchen and greet Honey and my dad. I sit down at the table while Honey puts a bowl of cereal in front of me. During the time that I'm eating Mina and Nico come down and also sit down.
"Alright, kids it's time to go," Honey tells us. Mina and Nico get up and head to the back door through the kitchen.
"Delphine come here for a sec." I hear my dad call me as I look up."What?"
"Here," he hands me a set of keys." Take my truck to school, I'll take my bike to work. Don't forget to come by after school."
"Thank you and I won't" I grab the set of keys and go out to the front door to the truck.
On the way to school, I turn on my dad's radio which only works when you use the cd player. A few metal band CDs are all he has. Pulling into the school parking lot I find a spot towards the back. I see Nico's bike in the middle with his friends and Mina sitting there.
I hop out of the truck and make my way to the front. I walk in and find the front office, the lady behind the desk pays no mind to me as she answers texts on her phone. It isn't until I slap the counter does she look at me in fright.
"I need my schedule, Delphine Hale." She scrambles as she types my name on her computer and grabs papers from her printer. She sets the papers on the desk as I grab them.
My schedule and locker information. I find my locker, use the combo and place my extra things inside. I check my schedule to see that I have history first. I find the classroom and walk-in.
"Excuse me who are you." A short, pudgy man asks me as he stands in front of the classroom.
"I'm your new student Delphine Hale."
"Very well take a seat next to Mr. Harris." As he goes back to his board a boy in the back raises his hand slightly. I walk over and take a seat pulling out my notebook and a pencil. The boy next to me tries to talk to me throughout class but I ignore him not in the mood to talk this early.
By the time lunch rolls around I'm ready to punch someone. I had math after history and apparently, this school is behind on some units so I had already learned this and was forced to sit in the lesson.
I walk into the lunch room and head to a table in the back. Sitting down I go on my phone. After a few minutes, I hear the chairs around me screech against the floors. Looking up I see Nico, Mina, Nolan, and Leon taking a seat with another girl.
"Can I help you?"
"What we can't sit with you?" I think Nolan said to me.
"I mean why are you here?"
"Why not?" Nico asks me.
"Because I don't like you."
"Well get used to us. We live with you and these are our best friends who will be around a lot more." Nico snips at me.
"Delphine this is Faye, Faye this is Delphine Dom's daughter." Mina introduces me to the girl next to her. Her pale skin and red, frizzy hair. Faye gives me a megabit smile as I keep my face neutral.
"Nice to meet you, Del." She gave me a nickname. No one has ever given me a nickname before.
"Hi." They all start talking with each other and having their own conversations. The rest of the day went like this, I ignored people as they tried to talk to me.
After school I went and got back in the truck, last night dad gave me the address for the shop. I put it in my phone's map.
