Chapter 34- "Tiny"

Nico's POV

It's been a week since my birthday and I can't stop thinking about Delphine's birthday. She didn't even think that it was important to us because her mom never valued it. I never knew I could hate a dead woman so much. 

Mina had told our parents and Dom about this. Apparently Dom when received her paperwork never thought to think about her birthday since she never seemed different. Mina and my mom are making plans for tonight so I offered to get her out of the house. 

Walking into Delphine's room I don't knock as she is most likely asleep. She is still in bed her brown hair is spread on the pillow. The blanket is laying gently over her as one of her hands grips the edge of the comforter close to her face. Her other hand is holding onto the bear I gave her at the carnival. 

Her face was rare. She seemed so relaxed. Time to wake her up. I sit next to her on the bed and poke her cheek. I notice the hoodie I gave her she is still wearing. 

"Delphineee" Poke. 

"Delphineee" Poke.

"Delphine" Poke. 

Her eyes flutter and she looks up at me in a cute daze. Her hair falls messily loves her shoulders when she sits up. An upset face is present as she stares at me. 

"Go get ready we're spending the day together," I tell her and push her out of the bed. She had barely caught herself but she did get up. She walked to her closet and left shutting the door quite hard. She walked into the bathroom and shut the door. I could hear the door lock click and the shower start running. 

Looking around her room it's plain. Not anything against her but she has no family photos, no personal touches. Nothing that shows this room is lived, it looks more like the guest room it once was. The only thing that she added was the desk which has piles of books on it. 

I continue to look around her room until someone clears their throat. Looking up Delphine is dressed with her hair down waiting for me by the door of her room. I sit up and stand up and she leaves the room first. 

She walks to the kitchen, grabs an apple, and sits on the counter. I take the time to look over her outfit. She has on a black, band-tee and she had light blue skinny jeans. When she finished her apple I drag her out to my bike. I hand her Mina's helmet and get my own on. I get on and wait for her to get on. 

When she stands there holding the helmet I look over at her a tilt my head waiting for her to get on. When she rolls her eyes she hops on the bike and sits far back. I grab her hips from behind me and pull her against me and wrap her arms around my waist. 

Before she can argue I take off causing her to tighten her grip. I drive us around for a minute before taking us to the aquarium. 

"Alright, Dolphin were here." I feel her get off while I get off myself. I grab her helmet attaching it to the bike. My bike has a small ensemble symbolizing which club I belong to, it warns others to not touch my shit. I grab her hand and pull her along with me. 

I take us to the ticket booth thing and buy us both tickets. We go inside and see the first exhibit. The blue light is everywhere giving everyone a blue tint to their skin. We walk together to the first giant fish tank. A plaque on the bottom has a picture and description of each species in the tank. 

I see Delphine reading the plaques and looking up after reading each one looking for the matching fish. I see her smile whenever she finds the match. The ones in the tank are the cute little coral reef fish. 

When Delphine asks me if I'm done looking I nod my head and we move to the other exhibits. The last take we visit is the sharks. A few smaller sharks that look like babies live closer to the bottom but above your head, a 7-foot shark swims around. 

"It's a sand tiger," Delphine tells me as she notices me gawking at it. 

"How did you know that?" I look at her as she gazes up at the large fish.

"Its coloring and nose shape." I look at her shocked I mean who just knew how to identify a shark. "Oh, and the plaque says that the shark's name is 'Tiny'." She smiles as I scowl at her realizing that she only knows how to read.

"You ready to go?"

"Can we go to the gift shop first?"

"Sure come on." I lead us to the gift shop we separate and look around. This aquarium didn't have any dolphins sadly but I found a small shark stuffed animal and I buy it. I wait outside texting Mina. 

Mina- Are you guys on your way back?

Me- Almost shes finishing up in the gift shop

Mina- gift shop?

Me- Tell you later

 I see Delphine walk out with a small bag similar to mine. She walks over to me. 

"You done?"

"Yep." We start to walk towards the exit. 

"What did you buy?" I ask after not being able to see into her bag.

"I bought a stuffed animal, a dried starfish, and a seashell." She tells me as we make it to my bike. She grabs the helmet and hands me her bag while she puts the helmet on. 

I put the bag in the saddle bags of my bike and take my helmet. I get on as she swings her leg over and grabs my waist. I drive us back to the house. She takes off her helmet and hands it to me. We walk in I grab our bags and drop off our helmets at the door and walk with her to her room. I hand her the bag with her stuff. She sets it on her bed and grabs out a shark stuff animal see hands it to me. 

"Happy Birthday Goldilocks." She gives me an innocent smile. 

"Thank you, Dolphin." I grab out the small stuffed animal from her. 

"Here you go." I hand her my bag with the dolphin. She takes it out and smiles before putting it on her bed next to the bear. 

A knock on her bedroom door interrupts us. SHe says 'come in' and walks in Mina. 

"Hey, Delphine oh Nico, come on you two we're all outside." Mina leaves the room. Delphine moves towards the door before I grab her arms stopping her. She looks up at me, I close the gap between us and press a kiss on her forehead. 

"Happy birthday Delphine." She looks at me for a second with a little pink tint on her cheeks. Mina comes back inside the room. 

"Come on guys mom's waiting." She grabs Delphine's hand and drags her to the back door. When Mina opens the door I hear a loud yell.
