*Short chapter*
Nico's POV
After school, we never saw Delphine until dinner. She came in with Dom, they seemed to have a better relationship than a few days ago.
I haven't talked to Delphine since the mall, I know my reaction was a little over extreme but she is new to the city and to be honest, she looks like an easy target. I mean she is pretty small, she has an average height and is pretty. Perfect killer bait believe me Mina forces me to watch her true crime documentaries.
Waking downstairs for a drink of water I exit the kitchen. Taking the first step on the stairs my eyes are drawn to the light I see down the hallway. Delphine's door.
Based on the time she should be asleep she must have left her light on. I turn her door handle slowly trying not to wake her up. When I step in I see her still awake but with some kind of notebook on her lap and her pencil moving. She hasn't heard me yet until her head jerks up and she scowls at me.
"Why are you here?" Her voice is hard as she questions me.
"I saw your light and thought you fell asleep with it on."
"Well, I didn't." Instead of leaving like I know she wants me to I go and sit next to her on the bed. She looks at me before rolling her eyes and going back to her sketchbook. From here I can see her drawing. It's a girl in front of a window with what looks like a candle beside her. Out the window, there is random scenery of woods.
"What are you drawing?" I point to her sketchbook.
"Nothing" she throws her blanket over the book.
"Why are you awake?"
"Couldn't fall asleep."
"Why?"
"Not sure."
"What does that mean?"
"I'll leave that up to you." She smirks at me.
"Fine good night." I get up and leave her room. I go back upstairs back to my room. Walking in I lay down thinking about what Delphine said. Why can't she sleep?
