Selena Jal
Saturday, August 29th—
I'm in the main office of Dawns High. School hasn't started yet, but I received a call from Ms. Lily, telling me that there is an urgent matter in the school. I suppose some kids are hurt and the nurse isn't here because the only thing I can do is heal things.
"Welcome, Selena," Ms. Lily says when she walks into the office and sees me.
"Hi," I say quietly, avoiding her eyes. I'm not really the outgoing type, instead, I'm pretty shy—except for in front of my friends.
"So as you may already figure out, there is a small issue that involves healing and you're one of the best healers in Dawns right now, so we contacted you. And thank you so much for making it!" Ms. Lily says.
"It's nothing, really, Ms. Lily, don't thank me," I say. I wonder what the problem is.
"You can just call me Lily, darling," Lily says. "School hasn't started yet." I nod in agreement.
"Well, this way to the nurse's office," Lily says, leading me to the nurse's office. The nurse's office is pretty big, with a lot of seats. I guess a ton of students in Dawns High gets injured, huh? I go over to the examination table and push aside the curtains. Inside sits a boy around my age who has a terrible looking bruise on his arm. It's swollen and very purple. It looks disgusting, even grosser than my cut last year infected with all sorts of bacteria.
"Selena, this boy here is Mark. He and about 3 more boys all have this bruise on their arms. Could you try to heal them?" Lily asks. I'm wondering where the nurse is at this moment.
"Yeah," I say. "Also, where is the nurse?"
"Oh, she's out for now. Usually, she's here when the students start arriving at Dawns, but this year, there are some problems she has to deal with back at home, so as of the moment, you're one of the only healers in Dawns," Lily replies.
"Okay," I say. "Lily, do you mind going outside for a moment, while I heal him?"
"No, I don't mind," Lily says, and with that, she goes to the patients' room and pulls close the curtain of the examination table.
"So...Mark, I'm Selena," I say. "Can you stretch out your arm for me?" Mark pushes up his sleeve a bit more and lifts up his arm to show me the bruise better. I carefully examine the bruise. It's nothing big, probably just a minor injection.
"Where did you get this from?" I ask Mark.
"I was in the forest with the rest of my friends and there were these oddly colorful bees that came at us all at once and stung us. Then, these things popped up on our arms," Mark recalls.
Hmmm...colorful bees. Never heard of them before. I make a note in my head to research it at home later.
"Okay, thank you," I say. I then concentrate on the wound and call for my healing powers. I don't know how I do it, but I just imagine the wound healing and it does. I have to put my hand on top of the bruise though, to transfer my energy to the wound.
After a while, the bruise is gone and Mark's arm is back to normal.
"Thanks," Mark says.
"You're welcome," I reply. "You can call your friends in now."
"Sure."
I heal the rest of the boys within half an hour and I feel tired after that. I'll go have lunch after this to regain my energy. I walk out of the examination room and see Lily waiting for me. She doesn't look so happy when I first see her, but when she notices me, she quickly forces a smile on her face.
