Emma Chen:

Sunday, January 31st—

Me and Matthew are heading towards Mr. A's office in the MCC. Who knew he'd be in such a high position to earn his own office? Well, apart from the fact that he is Level 20, but come on, he spends like the whole year in Dawns, what's the use of an office here? But I suppose it is useful, in times like this.

He called me and my brother to his office while we were having dinner with the rest of the group. Mr. A was very careful so I don't think anybody heard. I even came up with an excuse as to why we are not heading back to our rooms to give to Lily. I told her that Benjamin wanted to show me some shooting stars and it's nighttime so this is perfect. I do like shooting stars. It was my dream when I was little and I finally got to see it on Christmas Day, thanks to Roy. It was a beautiful sight indeed.

Anyway, we reached Mr. A's office after following closely behind him for a while. He goes in first, leaving the door slightly open so that me and Matthew can head it also. Inside the office, everything looks very tidy. I don't know if he cleaned everything up over the past week, but I have a feeling that it is cleaned by janitors when Mr. A is not at the MCC. It also looks the same as the president's office, but of course, things are arranged differently. There are armchairs instead of two couches, but I guess it makes no difference.

"Wonder why I called you two here?" Mr. A asks.

"To talk about the deal?" Matthew takes a guess, but I doubt it. If Mr. A wanted to, Mr. A could've just told us in the morning and not so late at night.

"That," oh, so he is, "and something else," Mr. A says calmly.

"What is it?" I ask. Is he going to talk about the work we've been doing? But that shouldn't be it because only me and Matthew are in his office.

"The bees." Dang, seriously? Why can't the MCC handle this? I thought they are experts!

"What does the bees have to do with us?" Matthew asks. "And why are we the only ones here?"

"Listen," Mr. A says, holding out a hand. When we silence down, Mr. A being to talk again. "I'm afraid these bees are related to the event 25 years ago." What? How? Why? Just what? My head is suddenly spinning like crazy. I don't think I'm ready to hear this, especially so late at night. This is like watching a horror movie at 3 AM.

"So you're here to tell us your thoughts?" Matthew asks.

"Precisely," Mr. A says. "Now if you'll stay calm and silent throughout this whole story, I would very much appreciate that." Sorry, I have a big mouth. I can't guarantee that I'm not going to ask any questions because I plan to. This is revenge for telling me this at 9 at night and right after dinner! Does he want me to puke everything back up?

"Please begin," Matthew says, listening to everything carefully from the very start. Fine, I'll try to stay quiet for the sake of my dear brother.

"So 15 years ago, when the four of us — your mother, Rosella, me, Hazel Kane, and David McCarthy — met during the Freshmen Orientation, we became good friends. To be real honest, I already met your mother a few times during the ceremonies held by our families and apparently, Rosella and David are childhood friends." Yes, I remember going to Tenter with my mom and brother to deliver Mr. McCarthy his wedding gifts. I also met a little boy there, but I don't know where he is now.

"I also knew Hazel, but barely because I've seen her during some of the ceremonies held, but I doubt she knew me. Aside from that, there were two more people, your aunt, Garlina Morso and Hazel's older brother Hudson Kane who were both seniors at the time. They were secret lovers for a brief amount of time, until the four of us enter our sophomore year that is which is also when your aunt and Hudson graduated from Dawns. During our freshmen year, all of us got along well. You can say that we were a group, although, usually only the three of them were seen together because I liked to be alone." How surprising! Not. Mr. A does kind of look like a loner. I mean, his cold demeanor justifies everything.
