Sunday, October 18—

It's 11:30 AM and I'm finishing up my science project for Mrs. Visico. The project is to conduct a research on the wildlife in the forests of Dawns High and their magical abilities. I finished typing my response on Friday, but I didn't go to the forest to take any pictures until yesterday. Right now, I'm putting everything together on a slide and viola! The plant that I'm studying about is none other than the Abonebility Tree. I've only seen two in my lifetime. The first time was in the backyard of the grand Morso Family's home. The second time was this time in the forest of Dawns High. Each one of the four families have their own sort of like headquarters where the head lives. I don't exactly know what they all look like and where they are, but I figure they are probably all very extravagant like the Morso's. I close my tablet and after checking the time.

We are supposed to meet up with Aaron for ice cream. I knew it was going to be long before we actually saw him when he said, a month ago, that we were going to catch up sometime. I did see him a couple of times in the school and in the boy's dormitory though. Being a Junior in Dawns is definitely not easy. Apparently since Junior year is the year where all the major exams are held. There's 4 nationwide tests for the regular academic subjects called the National Standard Examination for the Youth or NSEY. Then there is a high level task assigned to every student to solve. The juniors' results on these 5 tests will either qualify them to keep on training after high school to be a part of the MCC/other jobs that require more training or to just start life right after high school. Of course, participation in other fields will earn you more credit if you do poorly on the 5 standardized exams, but definitely not a lot. Most people don't want to work in the MCC anyway and the only other job that really requires more training is being a mentor. Most jobs don't need extra preparation after high school, so many of us will end our academic years after senior year. I might want to work for the MCC? I don't really know yet, but I still have a long way to go so...

Aaron is a smart person. He's also unbelievably strong. His ability allows him to conjure bows and arrows and he's very good at shooting. That's the reason why me and Emma know archery. Aaron was the one who taught us when we were younger. He's a good teacher, but man, he is like another person when being serious. He may not seem like it, since he acts so silly all the time, but he is very diligent. Nothing ever escapes his eye. He used to live with me and Emma before coming to Dawns High. The reason is because he hates living in the Morso Family mansion with his mom, the Family Leader. However, after coming to Dawns, Aaron would stay with his mom over the summers. I still remember when we would all sneak out of my parents' house at night and worry the adults. Those were fun times. Anyways, we are supposed to meet at the ice cream shop in town at 12. Turns out it is George's uncle's store.

My favorite flavor is green tea. It's refreshing unlike most of the other flavors, which are all so creamy. I text Emma, "Can we go now? I want to surprise Aaron maybe."

She replies, "Sure." I grab my keys and wear my shoes and was about to head out when Roy asks, "You're going out on Sunday? The only break day of the week?"

"Yeah," I say. "Emma and I are meeting our cousin for ice cream. Hope your uncle's skills won't disappoint me," I add to George who's on the couch watching tv.

"Don't worry," George says. "He's awesome." I go out the door and head down the stairs. Looks like Emma is already there waiting for me.

"You're early today," I say, surprised. Usually, it's me who waits for her.
