Chapter 33

"So, why did Ate Hera follow the kuyas?"

Loki placed his head on his mother's shoulder as they strolled around the palace grounds.

Hindi nila kasama si Iris because Sigyn got annoyed from her nagging. She sent her away.

"She found out that there's a captivating pearl in Oseniaz Kingdom and they're competing on who could take it to give it to you as a gift." Sigyn casually answered.

Loki froze when he heard that, a traumatizing memory entered his mind. He remembered how his three siblings invaded other lands just to get their well-kept treasures to give it to him as a gift. He shivered as he thought that they're doing that again.

"I heard each one of them is planning to trade their most valuable item just to get it from the Royal Family of that kingdom." Sigyn added. "I even saw how Hadencio organized the files of his lands to trade it with that pearl."

Lands?

That shocked Loki.

Just how many lands does the Imperial Crown Prince have?

Well, he is a member of the Imperial Family kaya hindi na kataka-taka kung marami itong lupain na pagmamay-ari. They are, after all, the richest in this empire. They own everything.

After the strolling with the Empress, his mother, Loki told Iris about his wound na siyang dahilan kung bakit siya pinagalitan ni Iris. Umiiyak pa ito habang ginagamot ang sugat niya, making him to feel guilty.

"Your Imperial Highness, please, next time, sabihin mo sa 'kin kung nagkasugat ka. What if this is a fatal wound? What would've happened?" Iris sniffed.

Loki bit his lower lips in guilt. "I'm sorry, Iris..."

"It's fine, Your Highness." Iris' hands are still trembling kahit na tapos niya nang linisan ang sugat ni Loki.

Loki can't helped but to hugged her dahil sa sobrang guilt. Napaiyak na rin siya as he continued to mumble apologies to Iris who froze in shock. She soon sighed bago hinagod ang likuran ni Loki para patigilin at pakalmahin ito.

"Your Highness... Please, don't cry." Iris felt herself tearing up. Kinagat niya ang ibaba niyang labi to stop it from falling but unfortunately for her, she can't helped but to cry dahil sa iyak ni Loki.

After some minutes, both stopped naman. Kumalma na sila. They're both sniffing loudly as they let go of each other kaya napatawa na lamang sila.

"Iris..." Loki tugged her sleeve when she stood up kaya nagtataka siyang nilingon nito. "Can you help me about something?"

Iris tilted her head in confusion and curiosity. "And what is that something, Your Imperial Highness?"

"It's about Young Lady Cherish Ricarda Daivat."

"We have arrived at the palace, my lady."

The door of the carriage opened at lumabas doon si Cherish.

She stared at the Youngest Imperial Prince's palace as she remembered the goal she came up with last night after her playtime with the Loki.

It's to anger the youngest member of the Imperial Family.

It may sound childish and totally unreasonable but this is all for the youngest prince's safety. Living in the palace grounds with a pushover personality like his can lead to death. Mabilis ka lang mapapaikot ng kalaban na hindi mo alam ay kasa-kasama mo na pala sa palasyo mo.

The safest way to live in the palace grounds is to be cold and merciless, just like the Empress, the very woman Cherish looks up to.

Despite the luxurious look and peaceful-like atmosphere in the palace grounds, it's actually the most dangerous place in the empire. Either because of the enemies lurking inside to steal the throne from the current Imperial Family or because of the Imperial Family itself, who knows.

That's why she wanted to see if Loki is capable of being angry. And what will be his action if he's angered.

That's why starting today onwards, she'll push all his buttons to gain a negative reaction from him.

"I'm just doing this because he's the Empress' son. She loves her too much so he can't die because of his own stupidity." She nodded her head as she reminded herself why she is doing this. "That's my only reason for doing this. I'm not protecting him. It's for the Empress."

She blinked before clenching her fists. Nagpakawala siya ng hininga bago tumango-tango sa sarili niya.

Sakto namang lumabas si Iris sa palasyo ng bunsong anak ng kanilang Empress to escort her inside the said palace.

"Good afternoon, my lady." She smiled at the daughter of the Marquess. "I'll be escorting you to the gazebo, my lady. Please follow me."

Habang sumusunod siya kay Iris, hindi niya mapigilang hindi mamangha sa nanny ng bunsong anak ng Empress. She's gorgeous, after all. Aside from that, she moves so gracefully. Her etiquette can par with the nobles, actually.

"Were you a noble before you became the Imperial Prince's nanny?" She can't help but to ask.

Iris peered over her shoulder to meet the curious gaze of the young lady who's following her to their destination.

"No, my lady. I was just a mere commoner before entering the Aileth Empire's palace."

Tumaas ang kilay ni Cherish sa narinig. "Then, are you serving an aristocrat before?"

She noticed how Iris' body flinched a bit when she asked her second question.

Is she perhaps right? If Iris is indeed a mere commoner before she became the youngest prince's nanny, then the only reason Cherish can think of kaya alam ni Iris ang noble etiquette is because she served one.

Well, it is impossible for a commoner to just copy an aristocrat's etiquette with just observation. Either the noble Iris served taught her etiquette or she's a talented human being na kayang gayahin ang galaw ng iba by just watching that person.

Perhaps... She has the talent to become an actress?

After all, actresses observe others who's close to the character they're going to play in the story they're going to act. But... As far as Cherish knows, most sa mga theater actress ay noble rin. Sobrang dalang ka lang makakita ng theater actress na commoner. In fact, is there even one?

Well, there is one that everyone who likes theater movies knows.

The so-called Prima Donna of the theater world.

The best actress in the theater industry. The only commoner who became successful but soon vanished like she doesn't even exist.

Her talent and beauty that those who've watched her play can't forget her kahit na ilang taon na itong hindi nakikita. That lady...

"No, my lady."

Nabalik sa ulirat si Cherish when she heard Iris' voice.

Nang magtama ang tingin nila, a shiver run down Cherish's spine when she saw the nanny's expression.

Despite the smile the nanny wore, her blue eyes are cold and distant, like the nanny's telling her to not cross something she shouldn't. It's scary...

"I was just a mere commoner before."

Iris' eyes turned warm again, the cold gaze drawn in her eyes vanished na parang wala lang. "Ah, we have arrived."

And that's when Cherish noticed na malapit na nga sila sa gazebo kung saan naghihintay ang bunsong prinsipe who immediately smiled at her with pure innocence.

Cherish blinked as she felt her face becoming warmer.

Was it because of the sun?

Oh, how she didn't notice her cheeks reddening at the mere sight of the young prince's smile.

Iris smiled softly when she saw the expression of the young lady. She, then, remembered the conversation they had earlier habang naglalakad sila papunta rito sa gazebo.

Her hands unconsciously turned to fists as she bowed to the two before leaving them alone, her cold gaze lingering on the young lady's figure for a bit.

She closed her eyes as she let out a sigh after she finally left the garden. Her past was nearly revealed which made her feel anxiety.

The same past that should be buried for as long as it takes.
