Chapter 60

"Lower down your voice, Eurenacacia."

"Ate, seriously! Nag-iisip ka pa ba ng tama? Alam kong normal na sa 'yo ang maging topakin at baliw, but this is too much!" Eunice ranted as she closed the door behind her.

Sigyn completely ignored her. She sat down on her chair as she started to work on her paper works.

"Ate!" Eunice shouted in frustration, stomping her feet on the ground just to express how annoyed she is right now.

"You're overreacting." Was only Sigyn's reply.

Eunice gasped. "Ate, anong overreacting?! You're putting Loki in danger with this!"

She slammed the paper she's holding on her sister's table.

"This is supposed to be just a secret! Kapag nalaman 'to ng iba, lalo na ng mga 'yon, paniguradong hindi nila tatantanan ang bunso mo!"

She scoffed nang makitang hindi nakikinig ang ate niya.

"Ate! Are you even listening right now?!"

"Ano bang problema mo?" "What's your point with all this ruckus, Eurenacacia?"

Eunice gritted her teeth. "My point is hindi mo dapat 'to nilagay rito. Ate, hindi lang si Loki ang mapapahamak dito, maging si Iris. Even Moran made sure na hindi 'to makakalabas to keep Loki safe. And here you are, casually putting it as a clue."

"And?"

"Ate... Moran's family background should never be revealed to the world."

Eunice's breathing hardened, eyes softening.

"You know that... You know how dangerous that can be. Loki's carrying his blood in his veins kaya madadamay siya rito."

"Eurenacacia, it seems like you've mistaken it." Sigyn's eyes hardened, glowing a bit. "Lokesio is my son."

Eunice sighed. "Ate, I know that. Bu--"

"Lokesio is my son." Pag-uulit niya.

"He's carrying my name." Pagpapatuloy niya. "No matter what family his father came from, that doesn't change the fact that he is carrying my name. He is my child. He has my blood in his veins."

"They have the guts to go against you." Eunice said with a matter of fact tone.

"Then? They can go ahead and try." Sigyn shrugged. "The Aileth Empire is willing to declare war against them. Besides... One person from us is enough to win a war." Kompyansa niyang sabi.

"And that's me."

"Your Imperial Highness, come on. Let's try to find the gift from your mother." Mariam tried to encourage Ares na nakahiga sa sanga ng isang mataas na puno, his arms are crossed behind his head, ginawang unan ang mga braso.

"You're noisy, Mariam." Ares sighed, grumbling quietly.

"Your Highness! You're such a spoiled brat, seriously! Come down!"

He peeked down at his nanny. "People call you kind when in reality, you're scary." He pointed out.

Mariam glared at him.

"'Wag nga ko ang ma-ganyan-ganyan mo, Arsonesio. Bumaba ka na riyan at simulan na nating hanapin ang regalo sa 'yo ng Empress." Namewang pa siya, tapping her foot on the ground because of her impatience.

Ares hummed, going back sa posisyon niya kanina bago niya sinilip ang kaniyang nanny.

"You're really a scary lady."

"'Wag mong hintaying ako mismo ang magbaba sa 'yo riyan, Your Imperial Highness." She gritted her teeth, padiin nang padiin ang mga sinasabi niya.

"Can you calm down, woman?" Ares sighed, finally sitting straight, feet dangling in the air. "Can't you just trust me for once?"

"How can I trust you when you're not even doing anything?!"

"It's because I already found it." Kunot noong sabi ni Ares. "I already deciphered that old hag's clue after reading it earlier. Kaya nga rito ako pumunta imbes na sa palasyo ko eh. Nag-iisip ka ba?"

Mariam blinked, looking around.

But he came here instead, acting so grumpy, like he don't care about anything else, when in fact, he already managed to find the answer regarding his mother's clue.

"Where is it, then?"

"In the highest floor." Ares looked at the building kaya napatingin din doon si Mariam.

Mariam's eyes widened in realization.

"It's the place where the former Commander lived!" She happily stated.

Ares sighed. "Yes. The room of my old man."

He leaned on the tree's trunk, taking out the crumpled paper from his pocket as he read the clue once again.

As the moon shone brightly at night,
Promises were made that for them, has always been right,
A fortress of safety, sleeping like a baby,
On top of heaven, as he raises his sword daily.

It was easy for Ares to decipher what the clue meant.

The dorm of the Imperial Knights is considered the safest place to be dahil sila ang guard ng palasyo, and since that's where they live. Everyone can also see the full view of the moon in the said place, admiring its lunar beauty. And the word top of heaven, which means the floor that is closest to the sky, which is the top floor which happens to be Armani's former room, his father's room.

Hindi alam ni Ares ang ibig sabihin ng ikalawang linya, but it's probably connected to his father and mother's relationship.

And base on the lines of the clue, Ares already connected the dots kaya may ideya na siya kung ano ang regalo sa kaniya ng ina.

He wanted them to finish this small game first that was made by their mother herself.

He scoffed lightly. "She's really planning on giving it to us, huh?"

"Eh?"

"It was easy to guess." He shrugged lightly.

Napansin niya ang curious na tingin ni Mariam so he sighed, can't help but spoil his second mother.

"It's one of the national treasures of our empire."

Mariam gasped, eyes widening sa narinig. Hindi siya makapaniwala. She's looking at him, waiting for him to joke, but he only continued what he was saying.

"The sword my father had used when he was still alive, the Airen."
