Leaning my head against the window, I watch as the city starts to fade.
"So, next week," DK suddenly says, "Most of us are going to an out-of-town race, and I wanted to see if you two wanted to come. Especially since it might be safer." He shrugs while driving. "It's not a long thing, just a few days."
"When exactly is it?" I ask, moving away from the window.
"Friday and Saturday. So a week and a half from now," He says, quickly glancing back at Jisoo and me through the rear view mirror.
As far as I know, I was off for work those days and Jisoo should be as well. And even if it would feel awkward to be the strangers tagging along, I was too wary of the Monsta X dude. I'm guessing a big part of that has to do with S.Coups ' speech' about being a target.
"Think about it," DK says when no one responds.
After a few minutes, we enter into the expensive-looking neighborhood and soon we reach the house.
Instead of parking in the garage, as usual, DK stops the car by the front door and he doesn't turn the car off.
Me and Jisoo exit the car and start to head towards the door, but I stop when I notice that DK hasn't left.
He waves at us from the car before quickly driving off.
I was too tired to put too much thought into why he would be leaving so late, if anything it was probably just races that were starting later than usual that I hadn't heard about.
On our way upstairs, we're stopped by Jeonghan from the kitchen.
"Do you guys want dinner?" He nonchalantly asks while sticking his head out in the hallway.
Usually, me and Jisoo picked up dinner from work and ate there, at least that's what we were doing since we haven't been staying at our apartment. But because we left early, neither of us ate.
"Sure," Both Jisoo and I say. Entering the kitchen I recognize most of the people, but I had forgotten the name of two of them.
Sana and Jun were sitting together at the island eating together, while Hoshi, Joshua, and the other two sat at a long table tucked into the corner.
"I thought you two usually worked later than this?" Jeonghan says while gesturing over to the food.
"Yeah," Jisoo says, "DK brought us back early though," she lightly explains.
"Hmm," Jeonghan lightly hums, "Interesting."
After grabbing a plate of food I awkwardly stand by the counter, unsure of what to do. Thankfully, Hoshi notices me and waves both Jisoo and I to the table, although he doesn't say anything so as to not interrupt Joshua.
"When is Eight getting back?" Jeonghan interrupts, leaning against the wall beside the table. "I'm starting to get worried that if he stays away for too long something will happen."
Joshua doesn't even look up at Jeonghan before quickly replying, "He's getting back the morning after we get back from the starting races." He says and then returns to his original conversation with Hoshi, "As I was saying, make sure that you go to popular bidders first, not the easy bidders."
I stop listening to the conversation, too distracted by the person they were calling "Eight." I was so certain that I had misheard something because I was tired. But it was obvious now that they were calling someone a number.

As soon as we enter our room, Jisoo flops onto the end of her bed and she softly sighs. "So," She starts, "What do you think about that race DK was talking about?"
