"Is this too flashy? I feel like it's too flashy?" Jisoo holds up a red dress, rhinestones sewn from the hem.
"Hmm, it probably won't be anything more than what everyone else is wearing."
"Okay then!" She clutches the dress close. "Now, you need to find something."
"Well, I hope I find it soon." Me, Jisoo, and Sana have been scouring this dress store for almost two hours, and Jisoo just picked out her dress. Sana is in one of the fitting rooms, debating between two gorgeous dresses. And I haven't found anything that feels right. Everything that I've found has either been in the wrong size or the wrong color.
Jisoo laughs. "At least we don't have to pay." She nudges me, face alight with a smile.
"Thank goodness." I grab a nearby price tag. Five hundred thousand won for a dress that wasn't even cute.
"I'm going to go try this on. Good luck finding something."
I wave as she leaves, and then when she's out of sight, I continue my search. The perfect dress keeps evading me. For a party like this, where I'm also sneaking away, I need something specific. Something that isn't outwardly unexciting but something that isn't over the top. Essentially, something people will glance over and not care about. A task that would be much easier if I even knew what to expect.
Sana tried to help, but apparently, she hadn't been to one of Got7's parties in a few years. Turns out they're more known for their parties than their racing.
Running my hand through the rack of dresses, I quickly observe each dress, trying to find something flattering.
"There you are!"
I pause my hand and turn to see Sana walking over, a golden dress in hand.
"You finally decided."
"Yes," She sighs. "I wish I could have worn both, but oh well."
"I like that one; I think it suits you."
"Thanks." She hugs me with one arm. "How's your search going?"
"I think I'm too picky."
"What about that one?" She points to where my hand had stopped when she came over.
It's a pastel blue dress, off the shoulder, just above knee-length, and made from a light material. I check the tag, and it's my size.
"It's perfect for you!" Sana takes the dress and holds it up over my frame. "You should get it."
"Are you sure?" It's a gorgeous dress, my size, and it fits everything I'm looking for. But it feels too perfect to stumble upon.
"Of course I am," Sana laughs. "But go try it on. Make sure you like it!" She ushers me off toward the dressing rooms. "Have fun!"
"Okay," I giggle as Sana waves.
The overly fancy dressing rooms are easy to find. A large chandelier hangs over the entrance to the rooms, and the tall doors are decorated with shining gold in a cracked pattern.
I clutch the dress closer to myself as I approach the clerk monitoring the rooms. Even with no ill intent, a sense of deja vu.
"Just that?"
"Yes."
"Great!" She smiles at me while handing me a card with the number one. "I hope you like it!"
"Thank you."
Once in the small, square room, I strip out of my clothes and step into the dress, then pull up the zipper.
It fits perfectly, falling off my shoulders at the perfect length and reaching down my legs enough to look pretty and not feel weird. The material lightly shimmers in the overbearing light, and it feels smooth. I quickly twirl, watching as the skirt flies out. I have no plans of twirling at the party, but if I did, it would look fantastic.
