They arrived at the dreaded store, she warned both Dustin and Eddie to stay in the van since they didn't know who'd be there and their names were dirt, they listened, for once. "So much for avoiding angry hicks" Robin commented as Delilah smiled. "I said we'd avoid them on the roads, not here" she joked as Nancy smiled back. "Let's just be fast" she said as they all agreed.
They all went their separate ways, she was standing on the cart as Robin drove it and Steve pottered along behind them. "How many of these do we need ?" she asked as Steve shrugged. "Like five or six ?" he guessed as she smirked. "Stop forgetting about Will" she said, pretending to be angry as he smirked back and they loaded the cart. Robin looked like time had stopped, afraid it was Vecna attempting to capture her, Delilah looked around the see her. Vickie.
"What are you going to do Robin, just stand there and gawk ?" Steve asked as Delilah shoved a can into his stomach. "Town pariah dingus" she tried to remind him but the girl was in awe. "Shut up" she scolded, but she couldn't pull her eyes away from Vickie. Robin went to walk over until a boy appeared next to Vickie, Robin's heart was shattering infront of them until the pair started kissing. Vickie noticed them then and Robin darted off. "Robin. Robin" Steve said, in attempts to call her but Delilah had already taken off running with her.
"How much is this ?" Nancy Wheeler asked the man at the counter so Delilah went over to see what was going on. "129.99 but I'll throw in 20 rounds of buckshot for ya" he said as Delilah grabbed the gun so Nancy let her take over. "How about 40 rounds of buckshot ?" she asked, Nancy knew the girl would attempt to negotiate. "How about I shove my foot up your ass ?" he asked in the same tone. "This early in the morning. Jesus" she began before squinting to read the label on his vest. "Buck. Take a girl to dinner first" she joked until she heard Jason's voice next to her. She stopped joking then.
"Delilah Henderson. Wouldn't expect to find you here" he said coldly as she twisted the gun in her hand. "Theres a murderer out there Jason, have to be extra careful. Sorry to hear about Chrissy" she said, refusing to look at him. "Want my advice ?" he asked as she shook her head. "Nope". "Shotguns are not good for much of anything past killing small birds. I mean they got power, sure but not much range and that's just gonna force you into close-range combat than someone can just grab that barrel and redirect it" he said while grabbing the neck of the gun.
"Why do you look nervous ?" he asked as she shrugged. "You just grabbed the gun and as I've said, you have to extra careful" she said back as he stared right into her eyes. "You buying that for your brother ?" he asked as her heart dropped. "No" she said honestly. "He here with you ?" he asked while looking around. "I don't know what family your from but going to a gun store isn't exactly one of our activities-" she began as he gripped the gun tighter. "No need to be smart, milk girl-" he began as she took a step back but his grip was so tight she couldn't.
"Sorry, Dustin ?" she asked as the boy nodded. "Dustin. I only ask because he's in HellFire, isn't he ?" he asked as she shrugged. "I don't know what you're talking about" she lied as he sighed. "You walked across the table with Eddie Munson, you know what I'm talking about. What about his friends ? They here with you ?" he asked, she had enough then. "Let go" she eventually said, he stared right through her. "I said, let go" she said louder. "So they are ?" he asked as she gulped.
"As I said, it's getting scary out here. I'm shopping. Again, I'm sorry about Chrissy but you need to let. The fuck. Go"
"We need to go" she said the second they got back into the van. "Your old friends are here" Erica finished as the boys panicked and Steve started the van.
They all sat in an open field, clueless about what they were getting themselves into but we're determined enough to fight whatever came against them. Eddie and Dustin were wrestling while she sat with Steve and Robin making weapons. "It just doesn't make sense" Steve observed as the girls looked at each-other. "What doesn't make sense ?" Robin asked. "That was Dan Shelter. He graduated like two years ago" he began as Delilah rolled her eyes. "Not everything reverts back to popularity" she whined.
"No, no, he's in college. He was visiting on Spring Break. Fast Times was returned like, I don't know, a week ago ?" he said while turning to Delilah who just stared blankly at him. She didn't work at Family Video, she didn't know or care about when videos were rented or returned. "Unless she's got some horn-dog brother which we don't know about which is possible or is just really into Judge Reinhold-" he began as Robin cut him off.
"Steve" she interrupted. "I don't care. I don't understand why you do either. Honestly, this seems like the perfect time for that little pull of the rug. In the face of the world ending, the stakes of my love life seem specularly low" she explained as Steve nodded. "I get you there" he said while turning to Delilah who was staring at her brother and Eddie. "I still have hope"
"Not everything has a happy ending" she continued as he nodded. "Yeah, yeah, believe me, I know" he said sadly. "Either she dies or Eddie gets there before me" he mumbled, only Robin heard that part. "She loves you, don't worry. I wasn't talking about failed romance though, I have this terrible, gnawing feeling that not everything's going to work out this time" she said as they both looked at the smiling girl, so lost in a trance at the innocence of everyone around her, she was so blissfully ignorant of her own.
"Do you think we shouldn't be doing this ?" he asked, afraid to loose her, again. "I think we're mad fools, the lot of us but if we don't stop him, who will ? We have to try, right ?"
"To killing Vecna" Delilah said while holding up her bottle of vodka. "Slash Henry" Robin added as Steve smiled. "Slash One"
