Ally's Pov:

Holding my room key close to my chest, I take a deep, nervous breath.

This is it.

This is my new home for the next couple of months.

Was I nervous to say the least?

Absolutely.

Was I completely, and utterly terrified for what's to come?

Absolutely.

But there is no turning back now. I want... no I NEED this.

So I better start manifesting it now.

Turning my key, I slowly push open the door to find an empty room.

Looks like I'm the first one here.

Pulling out my phone, I text my roommate that I'm here before setting my stuff on one of the twin beds.

I'm glad that I met my roommate ahead of time before coming here because I knew I would be a lot more nervous than I am now if I was walking into this blindly.

Her name is Claire, and she is honestly one of the nicest, most outgoing people I have ever met. We've gotten pretty close in a span of a few months from our constant back and forth chatting online.

So far, we pretty much like a lot of the same things, and it's almost scary how well our personalities get along.

I just hope we stay like that; I can't imagine having a roommate with who I don't get along with. That would be awful.

Since she wasn't here yet, I decided to take the time to unpack all of my stuff and start putting up some of my decorations. We decided on a light pink and gold-themed room, so I did my best to get as many of those colors as I could.

Just as I was about to hang my last decoration, the door to the room opened. I can't help but let out an excited squeal as Claire's head pops into view.

She squeals back as we pull each other into a tight hug, "I've been waiting for you!" I giggle into the hug.

She pulls back, "Sorry about that, you see, I've got some SLOW POKES behind me that don't know how to put one foot in front of the other!"

At first, I'm pretty confused as to what she is talking about, but soon I see two teen boys, stomping into the room with her luggage.

...

And she had a lot of luggage.

The one rolls his eyes as he sets her stuff down on the ground, "Are we done now? Mom said we only had to carry your stuff in, not-..."

"If you're offering to help then that would be just splendid! You can start hanging up my shirts." She points towards her closet.

"But-..."

"Unless you want Mom to know about the vase you broke 2 years and 16 days ago, but I mean, who's counting?" She sassily puts her hand on her hip while giving them an evil grin. Both boys groan in annoyance but still make their way towards her luggage to do as she says.

Something tells me we are going to get along quite nicely.

"Woah your side of the room looks so nice!" Claire checks out my decorations before turning back over towards me.

"Thanks, I'm a big shopper, so having to get decorations gave me the perfect excuse to do just that."

Claire laughs, "It looks like you and I have something in common."

I giggle, "A shopping problem?"

She nods, "A shopping problem."

We spend the next hour unpacking all her stuff and hanging up her decorations.

And she was right, it looks like we both have a bit of a "shopping problem" because our room was filled from head to toe with decorations.

But I've got to say our room turned out quite nicely. I can see we fancy the same type of things from looking at our decorations.

Nothing starts off college better than having a good roommate. I got lucky.

As soon as we finished, her brothers walked off before they were given anything else to do, and I don't blame them.

Since we had a bit of time before our first welcome week activity, Claire and I spent most of it getting to know more of each other.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Cmon... it will be fun!!" I pull Claire's hand as she gives me a 'are you serious?' kind of look.
The first welcome activity that was planned for the day was arts and crafts, and to say this wasn't Claire's cup of tea would be an understatement.
"Do they seriously expect me to sit down with a bunch of random people I don't know, paint a stupid ass- animal, make friends, and leave with a sense of dignity? Respect for myself?" She says, throwing her arms up in the air in exaggeration.
"If that is your way of saying that you aren't good at art, you are doing a terrible job. You can just say it you know... I won't judge." I snicker as she playfully shoves my shoulder.
"I bet I'm a better painter than you." She says, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Want to make that a bet?" I say, mocking her arms while slightly raising my eyebrow.
"Oh, you are so on."
...
She won.
We both decided to have a competition on who could paint a better giraffe, and for some reason, hers ended up looking like it came from a freakin art museum...
Okay so that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but you know what I mean...
But somehow mine looked like my giraffe survived a snowstorm, tornado, and the zombie apocalypse all at once.
It was that bad.
Apparently, I was supposed to wait for each color to dry before I started the next, but since I lack patience, I switched my colors right away... so in the end it just looked like a big blob of colors.
Whatever giraffe I started with was definitely not a giraffe in the end, so basically, I made a new species.
You're welcome.
But the activity wasn't so bad because we did meet two girls who sat with us and enjoyed our company. We exchanged numbers and now they are a part of our little group.
Their names are Sophia and Zoe, and they are roommates just like Claire and me. And what's even better news is that they live on the same floor as us, so they are nice and close.
"So, what next?" Zoe asks, glancing over at my phone for the welcome week schedule.
"They want all new students to meet in the stadium. This one is mandatory." I say, looking up at all of them with a small frown.
"Sounds fun." Claire says sarcastically, as we make our way towards the stadium.
And the funny thing is, her sarcasm was right.
It was not fun.
Hey guys!!
I hope you enjoyed this chapter! Love you all!
