One Week Later: Friday Night

Ally's pov:

This past week of school had gotten pretty hectic, and I'm so glad it is finally the weekend. I decided to take Axel's advice and meet with a counselor to switch over to a fashion-merchandising degree. When I stepped into my new classes, I knew right away that I made the right decision.

I excitedly shared the news with my friends and family that I now have a declared major. And my father, whose surgery went well last week, is also doing much better with recovery and physical therapy.

They all agreed though that fashion was definitely the perfect major for me, and I couldn't agree more. I feel happier, and much less stressed, and I have Axel to thank for that.

Since it's been such a busy week, I haven't seen much of the boys since we came back from that party last Saturday. Axel and Dylan had once again joined us at the dining hall on Wednesday to catch up, but other than that, I don't see them much around campus.

Axel and I have been texting each other a lot more recently though. I'm learning so much more about him that I haven't before, and I've lost track of how many times I've been caught smiling down at my phone.

Claire, Zoe, and Sophia have been teasing me relentlessly about it, but I know they are all secretly giddy about it.

Surprisingly enough, things with Sophia haven't been awkward since we met her boyfriend, and I'm glad things haven't changed between us. I was so sure that Ben was going to tell her to stop talking to us and find new friends, so I was surprised when she texted the group chat Sunday morning, asking about going to get breakfast.

She didn't bring up the conversation with Ben, and we didn't either. Even though I think her boyfriend is a bit controlling, Sophia is still a great friend, and I don't want to lose her because of him.

It is now Friday night, and I am in my comfiest set of pajamas, about ready to have a movie marathon with myself.

Today was Claire's mother's birthday, so she decided to spend the day with her family and come back tomorrow. She had invited me to go with her, but I told her that she should focus on spending time with her family.

Zoe, who had started her job at a small cafe here on campus, has a closing shift tonight, so she isn't here as well.

I had asked Sophia if she wanted to come over and watch movies with me, but she had said her boyfriend was picking her up, and that she would be spending the weekend with him at his school.

The boys were a bit disappointed to hear that we wouldn't be going out with them tonight. I had considered going but decided against it since I wouldn't want to go without at least one of the girls.

I was also exhausted from the busy week, and the thought of being on my feet for a couple of hours sounded even more exhausting.

The only downside of declining was not seeing Axel. If I were to go, he would have been my number one reason for going. But we planned to go out tomorrow night since Claire would be back and Zoe doesn't work, so I told myself that I would still see him tomorrow.

Crawling into bed, I get under my covers and begin to scroll through Netflix. Just as I am getting ready to pick one, my phone buzzes.

Axel: It's 9:00 pm and Dylan is already hammered. SOS

Me: Already?? Most of the parties didn't even start yet.

Axel: Bryce forced Dylan to play a drinking game with him... Bryce won.
