Hopper and Marie drove to Joyce Byers home, it wasn't the first time that Marie had been there, but it was the first time in a long time.

Jonathan and her hadn't actually talked to one another since Halloween. It wasn't because of anything negative, Marie just hadn't been able to talk to him. But it seemed Jonathan didn't feel the need to talk to her.

Hopper parked his police truck in front of the house, turning the vehicle off he hopped out. Marie was quick behind him, and by the time she made it to the door Joyce had already opened it.

"Joyce, where's Jonathan?" Hopper asked, and Joyce pointed down the hallway.

"Marie, you go question him?" He tells her, and she nods her head.

Marie knew this house, she could tell you how to get to Jonathan's room with her eyes closed, and from her own home. So as she made the trek down the hall, she saw Will's door was wide open.

His bed was unmade, and looked like no one had slept there for a few days. He had toys thrown across the room, making it seem messy. She saw the walkie under his bed, and she smiled. All the boys had one, it was how they communicated with one another.

Prying her eyes away from his room she looked towards Jonathan's. She had slept in that room countless times, she had even painted his room for him when he decided the original color sucked.

Knocking on it, she could hear a grumble. So she opened it, and there she saw Jonathan sitting on the side of his bed with a cassette in his hands.

"Jonathan?" She asks, and he looked up at her.

HIs eyes were red rimmed, and puffy. He looked like he hadn't showered, and he wore old clothes.

"Marie? What are you doing here?" He asked, sniffling.

Marie walked to sit down next to him, and once she did, he broke. Turning to her, he placed his head on her shoulder and just started crying.

"If I hadn't of taken that extra shift last night, Will would be here." He says, and she rubs his back.

"Hey, you can't blame it all on you. There is some creep out there that is kidnapping little boys, and we'll find him. Hopper will find him, you know he will." She says, and he pulls away from her.

"What if it wasn't some creep, but someone he goes to school with? Or someone we go to school with?" Jonathan asked, and she knew immediately what he meant.

Will had been called names for as long as she could remember, everyone thought his clothes were funny, or that he liked boys.

So the idea of him being the victim of a so called hate crime didn't shock Marie, and if it was true she already had her number one suspect.

Lonnie Byers.

Jonathan and Will's dad had been MIA for awhile, and when he did call all he wanted was to do something with his kids that he would enjoy, not what they did.

"You think Lonnie could've done something?" Marie asks, and Jonathan shrugs.

"Wouldn't put it passed him." Jonathan tells her, and Marie looks around his room.

"Jonathan you need to get up, and help us look for Will. He needs you right now, your mom needs you. Jonathan, please." She tells him, and Jonathan looks up at her.

Marie and Jonathan had grown up together, they knew each other like the back of their hands. He had been the first boy Marie had a crush on, besides Steve, he knew almost every little thing about her and she him.

She knew this was hard for him, hard for him to accept that his little brother was somewhere out there afraid and alone. But Jonathan slowly got up off the floor and made his way to the door. Marie watched him from afar to make sure what he was doing.
