July 26th - Prompt: Help

-----------

Edmund didn't know what was going on for a moment, all he felt was something wrap around his waist before he was lifted right off the ground.

He struggled a little, a cry ripping from his throat, before glancing up, his heart skipping a beat when he saw he'd been grabbed by a dragon.

He heard Caspain shouting after him, but the dragon flew off out over the ocean and towards the Dawn Treader before he could do anything.

He spotted Lucy rather quickly, and his heart broke when her eyes went wide.

"Edmund!" She all but screamed, voice cracking.

"L - Lucy!" Edmund cried, trying to pull from the dragons claws, but the dragon quickly turned around and flew back towards land, towards the unsteady, volcanic ground.

Edmund didn't know what to do, he was trapped, and was surely going to be made the dragons dinner, which made him feel sick to his stomach.

"Please Aslan... help me..."

Edmund squeezed his eyes shut, still struggling, after all he thought he'd rather die by falling than being eaten... either way it looked like there was no getting out of this alive.

The dragon flew a little higher after a moment, and then to Edmunds sudden horror, he was dropped.

He heard the dragon roar, and frowned when it sounded like a panicked roar, but he couldn't concentrate on much when he realised he was plummeting towards the hard, solid ground.

If he hit that floor... he was dead, end of story.

Edmund felt sick as he fell, not knowing what to do, and after a while, just before he hit the ground, everything went black and he was knocked out.

☆☆☆

Edmund groaned quietly as he woke, freezing after a couple seconds... he was alive?

His head was pounding and everything was aching, he was in so much pain and his ears were ringing, not to mention he could most certainly taste blood.

"Hold still Ed..."

Lucy's voice.

"Open your mouth."

Edmund did, but only to cough, which caused him more pain which made him slam his mouth shut.

He could feel someone's hand on the sides of his neck, possibly keeping his head and neck still incase of any breaks?

"Edmund Lucy needs to heal you, you're in a critical condition."

Caspians voice...?

Edmund swallowed hard, trembling as he slowly opened his mouth again.

He felt something drop onto his tongue, and immediately recognised the taste as Lucy's cordial, but he didn't have much time to think about any of it before the world went black again and he passed out.

☆☆☆

Edmund breathed out slowly when he once again woke, feeling warm and comfortable which was a relief to him.

He was no longer in any pain, and he could no longer taste blood, making him sigh out in joy.

Slowly he allowed his eyes to flicker open, the first thing he saw being a campfire, which was flickering in the slight breeze.

He glanced around from where he was laying on his side, before he froze, his eyes going wide.

Not too far down the beach, sat Caspian and Lucy, and to Edmunds horror the dragon was walking straight towards them.

Edmund didn't think, he leapt to his feet and drew his sword, running at the creature. "Lucy, Caspian, move!"

Caspian swung around, his eyes wide before he stood, grabbing at Edmund before he did anything stupid. "Woah, calm down Edmund." He muttered.

"Let me go!"

"Ed stop!" Lucy cried. "It's Eustace, it's Eustace, please lower the sword."

Edmund froze again, a deep frown spreading across his face as he eventually calmed down and stared at the dragon. "Eustace?" He muttered.

Lucy sighed. "Yes, our cousin is a dragon." She muttered. "He was tempted by some treasure and turned into a dragon."

Edmund didn't quite know what to say for a while, before he took a deep breath. "He - He dropped me." He murmured. "He nearly - nearly killed me."

Caspian shook his head. "I saw everything that happened." He told his friend. "He didn't mean to drop you, and he caught you just in time, if anything he saved you in the end."

Edmund swallowed hard. "It's Eustace." He choked. "Tell me you're joking."

Lucy sighed. "I wish we were." She muttered.

Edmund ran a hand through his hair, taking a deep, shaky breath. "Oh this is not good." He muttered. "Is there any way to change him back?"

Caspian shrugged. "Not that I know of." He sighed.

Edmund mentally facepalmed. "Aunt Albert will not be pleased." He said.

Eustace gave him what seemed to be a glare, before laying down and huffing.

"We're gonna spend the night here and figure out what to do in the morning." Lucy told her brother. "But don't worry, I'm sure they'll be something we can do."

Edmund took a deep breath, before sitting down heavily.

"You okay?" Caspian asked.

Edmund nodded. "I can feel a headache coming on." He grumbled, rubbing his forehead as he stared at the ground.

"You should get some sleep." Lucy told him. "What happened has clearly wiped it out of you."

Edmund snorted. "I was dropped by a dragon." He muttered. "Even if that dragon was my cousin it still wasn't nice."

Lucy sat beside him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I'm just glad you're okay." She breathed.

Edmund glanced at her, before pulling her close. "I'm absolutely fine Lu." He murmured. "I know I scared you, and I'm sorry, but I'm okay now, I'm alive yeah?"

Lucy smiled weakly, hugging him back as tightly as she dared. "Yeah, you're alive." She breathed. "And I'm so, so glad."
