October 1st - Prompt: come back

----------

It had been three days, and there had been no change with Edmund, he wasn't getting worse, but he wasn't getting any better either, and Peter could tell he was still clinging to life.

He was currently sat at his little brother's bedside, in a chair, leant forward as he gripped Edmunds cold hand in his two warmer ones.

He stared at Edmunds pale face, beyond exhausted after hardly having slept over the last few days. His eyes were drooping, but he made himself stay awake, for Edmund. He didn't wanna be asleep if he woke up.

He tore his eyes away and glanced up when his Mum walked into the room, and she sighed when she saw him. "You look exhausted Peter." She said gently, gripping a cup of tea in her hands as she wondered over.

Peter bit his lip. "So do you." He mumbled, after all it was true, Helen had been awake almost as much as Peter had been.

Helen sighed. "Look, how about you go and get some fresh air." She said softly. "It's doing you no good cooped up in here, you're starting to look as white as Edmund."

Peter bit his lip, and glanced back at his brother. "I don't wanna leave him." He whispered.

Helen shook her head. "I didn't want to either." She reminded him. "But you made me go take a walk."

Peter sighed.

"Go on Peter, before Susan and Lucy get here." His Mum said. "Go get yourself a drink and go for a walk, you need it."

Peter hesitated.

"By the time you get back, Susan will be here with the cake she's making." Helen said.

Peter smiled weakly, Susan had been trying everything to help him and his Mum, and everyone really, and Peter really appreciated the daily baked goods she seemed to be making. "Alright." He whispered. "But - If he wakes come and get me straight away."

Helen didn't look too sure that he would wake, but she nodded her head. "I will." She promised. "Don't worry."

Peter nodded, standing from his chair. "I won't be long." He choked, before leaving the room.

He headed downstairs and out into the cold world, the temperature hitting him like a ton of bricks after so long inside.

Wrapping his arms around him he wondered over to a bench and slowly sank down, not caring that it was probably wet from the recently melted snow.

He sat there, shivering, tears stinging his eyes, for ages, until something caught his eye.

Stood at the entrance to the Hospital, stood three people, wrapped in coats, most of their face hidden except their eyes.

One of them was staring directly at Peter, and suddenly tapped the one to his right, before they all turned to look at him.

It would seem though they suddenly realised Peter was watching them, for they quickly ran off towards a nearby park, but not before Peter recognised the first guy.

Pure and utter rage filled him, and he didn't hesitate in following the three boys.

He ran after them, finally reaching them and pouncing on the leader, sending them both to the hard, cold, wet ground.
