July 30th - Prompt: We're in this together

-----------

"Ed..." Peter murmured, drawing his sword. "When I tell you to run, run."

Edmund snorted, drawing his own sword. "Not likely." He muttered.

Peter nearly rolled his eyes. "For once in your life can you just do as you're told." He hissed, keeping a close eye on the wolves that had surrounded them.

Edmund shook his head. "Not today I can't no." He said. "I'm not leaving you alone to fight six wolves, no offence but you wouldn't make it out alive."

"Ed I-"

"Seriously Peter, when was the last time you told me to leave you alone during a fight?" Edmund asked. "You know me, I'm the best swordsman in Narnia."

"Any other fight I'd be fine." Peter replied. "But - But they know who you are Edmund, they want to kill you."

"They want to kill you too."

Peter shook his head. "You more than me." He shot back.

Edmund sighed. "We're in this together." He said firmly. "And if you don't like that then tough, because I'm staying, end of story."

Peter swallowed hard, and went to open his mouth, but stopped dead when one of the wolves ran at him.

After that it was just a blur, Peter didn't even think as he fought, it was just a case of kill anything that came running at him, and that's what he did.

He did however hiss loudly when one of the wolves scratched its claws straight down his back, ripping through tunic, shirt and skin, but Edmund quickly got rid of the creature, much to Peter's relief.

Between the two of them they managed to kill all the wolves, and the second they were safe Edmund quickly turned to his brother, sighing a little. "They were after me but somehow you're the one hurt." He muttered, sheathing his sword so he could take a look at the scratches.

"I'm just glad you're not hurt." Peter sighed, wincing when Edmund pulled up his shirt.

Edmund rolled his eyes. "Course you are." He breathed. "But aren't you glad I did stay? Goodness knows what would've happened if I had left."

Peter bit his lip. "I guess I just got scared is all." He murmured. "You know what I'm like when I comes to you fighting anyone from the witches side."

Edmund gave a small smile from behind, and nodded slowly. "I do know." He murmured. "And I'm grateful that you love me that much, but try and remember that we're better together Peter, that I'm sure you know."

Peter actually chuckled weakly at this. "I do know yeah..." He breathed.

Edmund placed a hand on Peter's shoulder. "They should be okay until we get home." He said. "It's only a few more hours and they're not too deep."

"That's good." Peter whispered. "They hurt though."

"I bet." Edmund muttered.

Peter turned to face him, hesitating. "Thanks." He mumbled. "For killing it, it Might've done something a lot worse if it wasn't for you."

Edmund smiled. "Don't mention it."
