364: A special surprise

December 30th - Prompt: Little brother

"Happy Birthday Peter."

The newly three year old Peter grinned up at his Dad, all but bouncing up and down on the sofa in excitement.

"Alright, sit still Peter," His Mum laughed gently. "We've got a very special surprise for you."

Peter turned to her, a small frown on his face. "What?" He asked slowly.

Helen smiled, "The baby I'm going to have," She told him. "We know what gender it will be."

Peter looked confused.

"We know if it's a boy or girl." His Dad said with a small chuckle, pulling Susan up to sit on his lap.

Peter's eyes lit up, "Really!?" He asked, sounding even more excited than he was just a moment ago.

"You wanna know?" His Mum asked with a smile.

Peter nodded aggressively, sitting forward and staring at his Mum, or more specifically her belly.

His Dad placed a hand on his sons shoulder, "You wanna know Susan?" He murmured.

Susan nodded slowly, although as she was only one and a half, she didn't seem to have much of an idea on what was going on.

"Okay," Helen said. "You're going to have a little..."

Peter was practically sat on the edge of his seat as he waited for his Mum to finish her sentence.

"Brother."

Peter's face broke into a grin, and he immediately flung his arms around his Mum's neck.

"Careful Peter," His Dad said quickly, pulling him away a little.

Peter grinned at his Mum. "You're really having a boy?" He checked.

Helen laughed. "I am," She said. "You're gonna have a little brother."

And Peter never forgot that day, as it was one of the best days of his life.
