October 7th - Prompt: Bedtime
------------
"Isn't it nearly bedtime?"
Peter glanced slowly up at his little sister from where he and Edmund had been playing a game of chess. "Well, you can go to bed if you want Lu." He said gently, before making his next move.
Lucy, who was curled on the sofa with a book, slowly nodded before going back to reading, sighing a little.
Edmund grinned as he made his next move, quickly putting Peter into check and smirking at him. "Check." He murmured.
"Of course." Peter muttered, shaking his head slowly, before he felt a hand land on his shoulder.
He looked around, frowning when he saw Susan staring at him, before she nodded at Lucy and smiled.
Peter, getting the hint, stood. "Come on Lu," He breathed, voice soft. "Bedtime."
Lucy smiled, putting down her book before grabbing Peter's hand.
Peter smiled softly, and the two headed from the room and through the castle.
"You know Lu," Peter said quietly. "You don't have to wait for me to tell you when to go to bed, I'm happy with you going when you want... as long as it's a reasonable time."
Lucy bit her lip, tightening her grip a little on Peter's hand. "I thought you'd say when we were supposed to go to bed." She murmured with a small shrug. "You know, like Mum and Dad did."
Peter took a deep breath before swallowing hard. "I'm not Dad Lucy." He whispered.
Lucy shrugged again. "You're the closest thing we've got now we're here." She replied hesitantly.
Peter was quiet for a while. "Alright, listen," He breathed. "I'm not going to boss you all around, I'm not going to tell you what to do all the time, I'll step in if I have to, I'll be the oldest if I have to, but I'll also be your big brother, yeah?"
Lucy smiled gently, resting her head against Peter's arm. "Yeah." She whispered. "Sounds good."
--------------
Peter sighed a little as he headed back down to the sitting room.
It would seem that now they were in Narnia, his siblings viewed him as a father figure of sorts, or something close to that... Now that they didn't have their parents with them.
He thought hard about this as he walked.
He already knew that he was gonna have to step up and look after his siblings, and he guessed that kind of fit into the making sure they had a parental figure... But of course, at the same time, a big brother.
Peter took a deep breath. "I can do both..." He whispered to himself. "I can do both..."
He reached the living room in a few minutes, only to stop dead in the doorway when he saw his younger brother, curled up on the sofa under a blanket, fast asleep.
His face fell a little, but Susan smiled weakly. "He's cute when he sleeps." She whispered in a teasing tone.
Peter couldn't help but chuckle gently at this, wondering into the room and sitting on the sofa next to his sleeping brother.
"Lucy okay?" Susan said quietly, moving to sit next to him.
"Yeah." Peter breathed. "Fast asleep already."
Susan smiled softly, before taking a deep breath. "Don't push yourself too hard." She whispered. "You're the oldest yes, You're going to be looking after us I know, but please remember Peter, You're still a child yourself."
The two stared at each other for a moment, before Susan stood and placed a kiss to Peter's cheek. "I'm off to bed." She murmured. "See you in the morning."
Peter waited until she was gone, before turning slowly to his still sleeping brother.
"I can do both." He whispered. "I'll be a father figure and a brother, whichever you need at the time, I promise I'll look after you all. I promise."
