Before they knew it nighttime was upon them and the group didn't have to wait any longer. Before Daphne, Steve, Robin, and Dustin went up to their spot on the roof they gave Erica the supplies she needed. Robin gave Erica her elbow and knee pads that she wore when she rode her bike and her helmet with two flashlights duck-taped to each side. Dustin gave her his headpiece so they could stay in contact with her.

So, the four left Erica to go up to the roof to let her know when the Russians were gone. They were all just glad that it wasn't pouring rain this time, but that meant they had to be extra quiet. After a while, the wait was over and Robin radioed Erica back at Scoops. "Erica, do you copy?"

"Mm-hmm, I copy. You nerds in position, or what?" Erica answered. "Yeah, we're in position," Robin sighed, "It's all quiet here, you've got the green light."

Dustin was holding his binoculars to his eyes like before to watch out for any sort of movement below. Steve knelt next to him keeping an eye out as well. Then, Robin talking to Erica next to him and Daphne next to her. "Green light. Roger that. Commence operation child endangerment," Erica said as she climbed the ladder in Scoops up to the vent.

"Jeez," Daphne commented. "Can we maybe not call it that?" Robin questioned on the radio. Daphne and Steve nodded along with her. "See you on the other side, nerds," Erica retorted.

As they waited all they could hear was Erica's movement in the vent and not one of them dared to make a sound until they heard from her again.

"All right nerds. I'm there," Erica's voice came through the walkie. "Do you— Do you see anything?" Robin asked with a hint of amusement and excitement laced in her voice as Daphne and Steve listened closely and Dustin still kept watch.

"Yeah, I see those boring boxes you're so excited about," Erica answered.

"Any guards?"

"Negative."

"Booby traps?" Robin asked making Erica huff on the other end. "If I could see them, they'd be pretty shit traps, wouldn't they?"

Robin sighed again, "Thank you, for that."

Commotion was heard on the walkie-talkie next, leaving them to assume Erica was now climbing out of the vent. "I'm in."

"Oh, God," Steve muttered showing off his displeasure and rubbing his hand over his face and through his locks of hair. Just then the doors below opened and Erica walked out, unscathed and a smirk on her face. The four chuckled in surprise when Erica shouted up at them, "Free ice cream for life."

The teens then clamored down the stairwell and raced outside to meet Erica who was waiting for them. They entered the room that was much smaller than they had imagined. It was filled with boxes with different names of the shops inside the mall. "Okay, let's see what's inside," Dustin insisted, motioning to a box in the center of the room after the door had closed behind them.
