That night Daphne returned home to find Eleven sleeping over with Max at their house. Everyone had eaten dinner already and Daphne was happy to help herself to the lukewarm food on the stove after taking a shower and changing into dry clothes.

Billy wasn't home again and Daphne just assumed he was out with friends or on a date, while Susan and her father sat on the couch to watch TV before they went to bed.

Once Daphne was finished eating and she stood up to go to her room her father's voice startled her from the once silent couch. "Where's your brother, Daphne?" Daphne stopped in her tracks behind the sofa to answer her father. "Uh... I don't know..." Daphne hesitated.

Her father scoffed in response. "And why's that?"

Daphne hesitated again, not knowing how to answer her father. "I... I don't know."

Neil sighed, "Well... if you see him tell him to come home. I need to have a chat with him about being out all night."

"Yes, sir," Daphne swallowed and made her way to her bedroom with a breath of relief. In all honesty, with everything that was happening at the mall, Daphne never noticed that Billy hadn't been home at all. Instead of going to bed to the thought of Steve Harrington, all she could think about was if her brother was all right. She silently hoped that Billy wasn't in any trouble, put the thought to rest, and finally decided to get some shut-eye.

The next morning after Susan and Neil left for work Daphne woke up to her alarm this time and had plenty of time to get ready for her job. After changing and fixing her hair and makeup for the day Daphne waltzed into the kitchen to make some breakfast for herself and El and Max before she took off.

Once she finished and ate, Daphne walked down the hall and softly knocked on Max's door before opening it to find both girls still fast asleep. She tip-toed over and softly shook Max awake making her groan and blink her eyes open. "Hey, I'm leaving for work. I made you guys breakfast, it's in the kitchen," Daphne whispered as she leaned down to talk to her stepsister.

Max nodded groggily in response. "Okay, thanks, Daph. See you later." Max then let her head flop back down on her pillow before Daphne gave her a loving stroke on her head and stood back up to leave the two girls to their own devices.

When Daphne walked up to the record store at the mall, to her surprise the door was already propped open and all the lights were on. She hesitantly took a few steps inside and began to wonder if she had remembered to lock up the night before.

With all the thoughts that constantly ran through her head, Daphne was beginning to second guess herself when her manager Mark walked out of the back office.

"Mark, what are you doing here?" Daphne asked her boss curiously as she walked further into the store. "Oh, hi, Daphne. We decided to call it short since my daughter wanted to have a cookout for the fourth and my other daughter wanted to go to the fair and everything," he chuckled.
