Dustin led the group through the woods with his compass for the rest of the day. Eddie was at his side and behind him everyone else. Steve, Robin, and Daphne were walking in the back, keeping a close eye out for anyone that may not have been welcome.

After a while, Daphne could see the worry on Steve's face. "Hey... are you all right?" She asked from his side. And just as Robin heard her she smiled at Steve and jogged to catch up with Nancy just ahead.

Steve looked over at Daphne finally and sighed, "Yeah, yeah. Uh, just on edge I guess." Daphne nodded as they continued to walk, pushing through the wilderness. "Don't blame you... it's like... never-ending," Daphne replied in more of a question than a statement.

Steve smiled and chuckled, "Seems like it." Silence suddenly surrounded the two and finally after what felt like minutes, Steve asked, "What about you? How are you holding up?"

Daphne smiled, "On edge." Steve chuckled as they continued downward, moving branches of leaves out of his way. "I mean, what if we find the gate? What then? We just... we—" Daphne stopped, her mouth not being able to catch up with her thoughts.

"Hey, hey, hey. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it. We won't go in unprepared, I can promise you that," Steve assured her. Daphne took in a breath and gave a nod. "Yeah. Yeah, you're right," she admitted. Upon hearing her words Steve grew a smirk on his face. "I'm right? Somebody write the date down, Daphne Hargrove said that I'm right."

Daphne rolled her eyes, "Oh, shut up. We're gonna lose the group with all this talking." As she started to walk ahead, Steve watched her walk up to Robin and Nancy with a smile on his face.

He wanted to tell her he knew about the letters. However, he also knew it wasn't the right time. But when would it be? He knew he needed to tell her soon. But would soon be soon enough?

As they continued their hike it started to become darker and darker. The sun was way below the horizon and Dustin was now running through the woods. Eddie was just behind him but sending everyone into a run as well.

"Dustin? Can you slow down? Dustin?" Eddie called out as he ran after the boy. Dustin turned over his shoulder saying, "I think we're getting close," when Eddie ran up and pulled him back before he fell. "Watch your step, big guy."

Finally, they all came to a stop, back at Lover's Lake. "Oh, man. You gotta be shittin' me," Steve panted as they all looked upon the large body of water. "Yeah," Eddie agreed, "I thought these woods were familiar."

"Lover's Lake," Robin breathed, almost in astonishment. "This is confounding," Dustin grinned. Then Max piped up from next to him. "There's a gate in Lover's Lake?" She questioned aloud.

Then, Nancy interjected, "Whenever the Demogorgon attacked, it always left an opening. Maybe Vecna's the same way."

Steve from behind Nancy then said, "Yeah, only one way to find out." Everyone then turned to Eddie as he said, "Come on. This way."
