As Daphne and Steve ran behind Robin to catch up with her and Nancy, she kept rushing them along. "Come on! Let's go!" Steve huffed audibly in frustration. "Slow down! Ro-Robin! Slow down!" He scolded from behind her.

Finally, just ahead, there Nancy was, patiently waiting for her friends' quick return. The four continued their journey through the woods together until they could see a way out.

As they stepped out of the tree line they could finally see, many feet away, Vecna's lair. The red, thundering sky overhead and the largest swarm of bats they had ever set eyes upon, flying around the house.

Slowly, however, they turned their heads to their side of the street at the playground. Amongst the darkness was a soft yellow glow. "Erica," Robin breathed and smiled at her friends by her side.

With that, the four stealthily made their way to the playground. Phase one was complete. And phase two was about to commence. Max baits Vecna.

At the Creel House, Max and Lucas were sitting in the room across from the glowing lantern, where Vecna was. They were sitting on the arms of the couches across from one another by the window to await Erica's signal.

The only thing that could be heard was Kate Bush on Max's headphones. Other than that, it was silent. Finally, after a while, Max picked up her notepad that she used to communicate with and began writing something down to tell Lucas.

Lucas finally looked up from staring at the floor and watched as Max wrote. Suddenly, she held up the notepad for him to read. "Hi," she wrote and gave him a soft smile.

Now it was Max's turn to watch Lucas write. She lowered her notepad as she waited for his response. Lucas then stopped and held up the pad that said, "Hi," in return with a smiley face.

This made Max smile, and Lucas suddenly felt warm inside. It was one thing he had always been good at. Making her smile. He smiled in return as she began to continue their conversation.

But he was suddenly distracted as Max was completely focused on her next words. Lucas stared out the window anxiously waiting for his sister's signal. Part of him hoping that it would never come.

He looked back at Max as she held up her words. "I'm glad you're here." He read. Then he started his reply as Max anxiously waited for what he was about to say.

What she'd written, she wasn't just saying that. If she could've had Daphne there with her, she would've wanted that. But Lucas was just as good. Even when Max was shutting people out, he never once stopped trying to be there for her. And she'd forever be indebted to him for that. Forever grateful.

"Me too!" Lucas replied, smiling brighter than before.

Max felt a blush creep onto her cheeks, hoping that in the blue light, he wouldn't be able to notice. As she looked off to the side, Lucas was quick to write something else, before she could. He wasn't going to lose his shot at this. So, he wrote, "Move Friday?" And slowly held it up for Max to read. He gave her a small shrug as she let out a breath and began writing.
