The past days were so stressful. I had my thesis defense and even though it was finally defended, naalala ko pa rin kung ilang gabi akong hindi nakatulog sa paghahanda niyon. Ang dami na ring nagsidatingang school works ko at sobrang hectic ng computer shop. I was needed so much that I can't even ask for a day off. There's a lot of work on my freelances too. Hindi ko na alam kung ano pang uunahin. Pumipintig na ang ulo ko sa sakit.

"Doreen," it was Daria.

"Hmm?" hilot-hilot ko ang sentido ko.

"Pupunta mamaya sa bahay si Sojin. You said you have a lot of things to do, right? Puwede kang huwag muna sa bahay." she said. "I'll take good care of him."

Nag-angat ako ng tingin sa kanya. She was eating her sandwich while texting. Natandaan ko pa ang saya ko kanina nang mapapayag ko siya agad na mag-snack dito. Hindi naman kasi sumama sa akin.

"Bakit daw siya pupunta?"

"May usapan kami. And he wants to visit Blite too."

Sojin didn't inform me about that, though. Napatitig ako kay Daria.

"Have you been texting a lot lately?" tanong ko.

Tinaasan niya ako ng kilay. "Everyday. Why?"

Natigilan ako. Araw-araw? I remembered Sojin only texted me to ask if I am busy last last day. Hindi ko na nareplyan kasi sobrang busy ko nga. After that, he's not texting anymore. But he's constantly communicating my sister?

"Uh, he's not busy?"

"He is. But he's texting me everyday so I guess he has time."

"Do you know what did he do? His work or somewhat?"

"He's working in a company. Bakit ka nagtatanong?"

She knows that? Ni hindi ko alam na sa isang kompanya siya nagtatrabaho. Ganoon ba sila kadalas magtext?

I was left with deep thought. Sa huli, umiling ako at hindi na sinagot ang kapatid.

Sa totoo lang, gusto kong magpahinga mamaya sa bahay at bukas na lang sisimulan ang lahat dahil sobrang sakit talaga ng ulo ko. Pero dahil ayaw niyang nasa bahay ako mamaya...

"Okay. Hindi na muna ako uuwi."

"Thanks. Study well!" she smiled. "Anyway," She handled me a piece of paper. "I topped my midterm exam!"

Umawaang ang bibig ko at dali-daling napatingin sa papel niya. She only got 4 mistakes. Napangiti ako at halos tumalon para yakapin siya.

"Wow! Congratulations, Daria!" I clapped happily. "You did it, baby! Ate's so so proud!"

"Ako lang 'yan."

Tumango ako, nakangiti. "Ang galing-galing naman!"

"Nah, I'm just inspired."

"Do you want a gift? You deserve something!"

She smiled at me. "A solo date with Sojin will do."

Unti-unting lumiit ang ngiti ko. Sa huli, ibinalik ko ulit. I don't want to ruin this. My baby did something great. She deserves anything she wants right now.

"I'll try to do something with that. Do you want that as a gift?"

"Yes!" She looks so happy.

Masaya ako para sa kapatid at desidido akong ibigay ang gusto niya. As long as she wants it. As long as it makes her happy and inspired. As long as it do good to her. I'll provide her with everything I can.
