Caius's POV
It's been two years since I saw her in a vision. All this time I believed her to be a figment of my imagination or a cruel reminder that I would never know true passion. I never stopped thinking of her, I thought I was going mad until today. As I walked into the throne room and made my way to my seat for the hearing, I felt eyes on me. "Is there a reason your eyes are burning a hole in my face Marcus?" I snapped. "Forgive me brother but something has changed about you, have you met someone new?" This would've stopped my heart if it was still beating.
"What nonsense are you spouting now Marcus? Your confusing statements make me angry." Marcus sighed and answered slowly as he always did, this too made me angry. "Yes, yes I wouldn't expect anything less, truly I think I would die of shock if there was something that didn't make you angry brother. What I mean to say is I see a bond, it's so bright and strong I have never seen another like it, what I want to know is who you share it with." Before I could answer Aro entered. "Now now what is this I hear Marcus, please do share." Marcus simply held out his hand for Aro to grab. "Remarkable. Caius, it seems to me that we have found evidence of your true mate" Aro let out a shrill laugh after his statement. "Impossible, I do not have one." Could it be her, could she be real? Aro interrupted my thoughts "I do believe this is the first time I have seen you without a scowl imprinted upon your face brother, are you thinking of her? Better yet do you know who it is?" Before I could answer he grabbed my hand and saw everything. His laugh echoed throughout the room. "Yes brother I believe the girl from your vision is very real, she appears to be human. Her heartbeat was so clear, and her skin flushed so obviously that blood flowed, yet if she were human she wouldn't have been able to hide from you that night. Oh, how I love a mystery." Aro clapped his hand together as if this were a game. I glared at him "I do not wish to go searching, this could be a trick of some sort, someone trying to make us weak by distracting me." Then Aro spoke again this time his tone very dark "If you do not wish to find her I can't make you, But I will search for her. Whatever she is she snuck past the entire guard, she is a danger to us and this will not do"
Something sparked in me, I didn't like the way he talked about her like she was an object for him to take. I wanted to protect her, from everyone and everything. I stood up from my throne and spoke again "you will do no such thing brother, if she is my mate you have no right to her. If Marcus can see our connection it is only a matter of time before our paths cross. Now if you'll excuse me I'm done for today, I will let you two take care of the hearings for today." Before Aro could object I was back in my room, I took a seat on my couch and put my head between my hands. Of course, I wanted to find her, what I felt in that dream was more than I felt in my entire immortal existence.
I needed to know if it was real, If her touch actually felt like electricity, and if her skin could actually bring me warmth.
Could she really make me feel alive? I had to know.
