Caius POV:

I opened my eyes and was back in my room, even though I can't actually feel a change in temperature, the room felt cold now that I was without Soltice. I was still in shock that she brought me into her home...well her sleeping quarters at least.

Her room was partly what I imagined, filled with books, crystals, and plants. It was filled with her scent, it was so sweet and intoxicating, the smell of coconut and lavender would never get old because of her. "Master Caius!" I heard Alec calling my name from outside my door, Solstice must've heard him call out to me the first time. Even such a small show of her power was impressive. I gathered myself and put a straight face on before I answered him. "Come in." He opened the door and slightly bowed his head towards me, I hardly glanced at him as I waved my hand to signal him to speak.

"Master Marcus has asked me to tell you he wishes to speak to you before the next hearing." My interest peaked, I wonder what my brother needed to tell me in private...away from Aro. I was gone in the blink of an eye and appeared in my brother's office. I sat down in the seat across from his desk his seat slowly turned towards me. Marcus stared at me for a moment and looked intrigued. I was annoyed now "Is there something you wished to talk about or are you just going to waste my precious time?" I spat. He chuckled "You would think after all the time you spend with your mate you would be a little...happier." I dig my hands in the arms of the seat breaking the wood in my tight grip. "What is your point brother?" He adjusted in his seat before he slowly spoke. "There has been a development in your bond, with your mate as well as with your family." His words made me feel uneasy but I didnt move a muscle to show it. "What kind of development?" I growled. "Well I've been observing you from afar since the mention of your mate, and lately something has shifted. Your bond with her is stronger than any bond that I have ever seen. It's even stronger than your bond to this family..." I stayed still, this was a problem if Aro caught wind of this he wouldn't stand for it. "What do you plan to do with this information?" I asked Marcus. He stared blankly at me then spoke "You know I see you are different now, she is changing you. I think it's good, even though you fight to pretend you are heartless and evil I see you are not. I don't aim to use your love against you brother, but you also know it's impossible to hide what I see from Aro. I wanted to tell you first to warn you. When he finds out I think he will come for her. She is a challenge for Aro and he will not let her be so."

I mulled over the grim reality before me. "I will choose her, if he means to harm her I will choose her over him." Marcus nodded slowly "I know Caius." My mind was racing. "Can you hold him off? I just need time, I don't want to tear our family apart but he will force my hand if he comes for her. Help me keep this from him for the time being. I just need you to avoid him reading you just until I see her again, she can help." Marcus looked interested. "Your timing is perfect, I leave shortly for some business I must attend to, I will be gone for a week you have until then to sort this." I nodded "A week is all I need, I don't mean to hide this forever but I need time to win her trust... to prove myself. If Aro comes for her she will never forgive me, I have to protect her."

A small smile crept on his face and I was angry again. "I am glad you find my turmoil amusing brother," I said to Marcus. "No it's not that brother, it is just nice to see you care for someone so deeply. It's nice to see you care at all." I felt aggravated that I looked so weak in front of him, I even begged for his help I was beginning to feel like I didnt know myself anymore. I felt anger but it was taken over by a feeling of relief that he would help me to protect her. I knew I couldn't keep what Solstice and I had a secret forever but I just needed to show Aro that I wouldn't live without her and that he did not want me as his enemy. I needed to make sure he would never harm her. I nodded to Marcus before I swiftly left the room.

I would need to see Soltice soon, she was the only one powerful enough to hide what Marcus had seen between us.
