Sidharth's P.O.V.
I went up to the floor of Shehnaaz's home with her ecstatic father and stood in front the door. He rang the door bell and a very young girl opened the door. "This is Sonu, my youngest daughter," he said, "Come in." "Hello," she said very sweetly to me. I nodded at her and entered. Shehnaaz's mother came out of the kitchen and looked at me. "This is Mr. Shukla, my boss," he said, "He hired me for the new job." She smiled at me and invited me to sit down. I looked around the house and noticed a picture of Shehnaaz and her sisters. She looked so happy. Getting up, I went to the picture and asked, "Who is she?" Everyone frowned and the father, especially, looked at the mother angrily. Smiling at me, he said, "She used to stay with us. She left now." How hard is it for this man to simply tell the truth? "Paminder, why don't you make some tea for the guest?" The man said, glaring at her. She nodded and went into the kitchen. Looking at Sonu, she wiped away her tears and smiled at me. My phone rang and it was her. Answering it, I went to a private corner and answered, "Sidharth, can you do me a small favour?" "Tell me," I said. "I'm really feeling to eat laddus. Buy some for me, please? I'll pay you back," she said. "You are turning a food junkie by the day," I said. "Please, na? Buy just four for me? Please..." she said. "Ok," I said. "Yayy! Thank you! And hurry up. I'm waiting," she said. "Ok," I said. I hung up and went back to the couch. Shehnaaz's mother brought some tea for me. "Can I ask you a favour?" I asked. "Sure, of course. Anything you need," she said. "I need to buy laddus for someone. Can you tell me the best place around here to get them?" I asked. "Didn't you make a set yesterday? Why don't you give him from that?" The father said, "She makes the best laddus in the building." "What could be better than this? Shehnaaz will get her own mother's laddus. "I'll pack them," she said and hurried to the kitchen. I drank the tea and waited. As she brought back the small container, I took it and thanked her. "I'm sure that the person will love them," she said. "I'm absolutely sure," I said. Getting up, I said, "I will take your leave now. It was a pleasure meeting you all." "The pleasure is all ours, sir. A big man like you have entered our humble home, that is the biggest blessing for us," he said, folding his hands. Despite all his lying, I could see where Shehnaaz got her values and teachings from. He brought her up very well.
I left the house and went downstairs. I got into my car and went directly to Shehnaaz. She met me at the door, excited and looked at the container in my hands. She frowned asking, "You didn't buy it?" "I happened to be at one of my employees home and his wife packed this when I asked about buying," I said, handing it to her. She took the container and frowned, looking at it. I went to the table and poured a glass of water for myself. "Where did you get this container?" She asked. "It belongs to the people," I said. Did she recognise the container? She opened it up and smelt it. I could sense the questions in her eyes and to avoid them, I dared not look at her. "Thank you," she said softly. She took one and bit into it. She smiled and peace flashed in her eyes. She sat down and began devouring it. "No beers today?" She asked jokingly. I frowned at her and asked, "Do you want me to go and get some?" "No, please. You drank enough yesterday," she said, "How's your cold?" I didn't look at her. "Hey," she said with her mouth full, "Come here a minute." I went to her and sat down next to her. She rested her hand on my chest and while I looked down at it, she hit my nose. My mouth was left a bit agape and she pushed a laddu in my mouth. She smiled and said, "Chew. It's delicious." Slowly, I came out of my sudden startle and chewed. "Tasty, right?" She asked, closing the container. "Are you finished?" I asked. "Despite how much I want to complete this, I don't want it to finish so quickly. I don't know when I will get this again," she said, smiling sadly. She went and put them in the fridge. I drank some water after the sweet delicacy and looked at her as she came and sat back next to me. "What do you want for dinner?" I asked. "I haven't decided yet," she said. "If I carry you out for dinner, will you come?" I asked. She looked at me a bit surprised and smiled. "Why not? I will come," she said. "Great! Then, be ready by eight. I'm going home. I'll come back for you and we will go together," I said. She nodded. I left and went home, feeling overjoyed that she agreed. I called the best restaurant and made a reservation for the entire VIP section.
