Sidharth's P.O.V.
I left Shehnaaz room the minute she told me to do so. Within, I always wished that she can tell me everything that is going on inside her and bothering her but I can't always expect what I want to happen in reality. I woke up, a bit hungover and irritated but judging by the way she was this morning, she seemed happy and jolly. She behaved in her usual cheerful manner and it reduced my own annoyance a bit. When I was in the shower, my phone kept ringing and even after I finished bathe and got out, I saw missed calls from Aditya and he was still calling. Without answering any of them, I got ready and went back to Shehnaaz, still sitting on the bed where I left her. I handed the phone to her and told her Aditya was calling for her but I hated doing so. Inside, I knew very well that I envied him. He had Shehnaaz's heart which is way more precious than anything anyone can ever have because there is only one Shehnaaz and she only has one heart which hold him. As she called him back, she held onto my hand and stopped me from leaving her side making it a bit harder and uncomfortable for me. She didn't speak a lot though to him and she looked a bit tensed up. I thought it was because of me and I took my hand out of her grip by force and left to give her some privacy. Every moment of thought about her being with him pained me very bad and I had no other choice but to endure it silently. She might be my best and only choice but I am not for her. I gave her some time before I entered the room again and helped her to the bathroom. As she was bathing, I got a call from Anmol and went outside to answer it. "Mr. Shukla, I got tomorrow's date for the court case. Miss Shehnaaz would have to be present for questioning," he said. "Any news on Khanna?" I asked. "No sir, but I think I have a lead which might help you," he said. "Come and meet me in my office this morning. You will discuss the case with Shehnaaz and I want to hear what lead you have also," I said. "Yes, sir," he said. I hung up and went back inside.
The sound of the shower was off and I guessed Shehnaaz had finished bathe but when I opened the door, I saw her trying to walk on her own feet, holding onto the walls. Immediately, I scolded her but she answered me back with some attitude and didn't allow me to come forward and even help her. By the time she reached the bed, she was hissing in pain and I rushed to her. I attempted on taking her feet to examine it a bit but her response hurt me deeply. My care for her was not sympathy or pity but genuine. When she asked me to leave her alone, I left without an argument as my heart ached at what she told me. Even if she was angry at something, I wanted to be the person she comes to. I wanted to be her confidant but again, unfortunately for me, that wasn't going to be me but instead, Aditya. I went downstairs and met Daksh at the bottom of the stairs. "Good morning sir," he said. I held my annoyed face and proceeded to the table. He followed. "Anmol called me. I couldn't meet him yesterday because of everything that happened so make it happen today," I said, turning over my plate. "Yes sir," he said. "And Shehnaaz is coming with us," I said. "Yes sir," he said. "Also, I want a meeting with the board of directors after lunch, I have some announcements to make," I said. "Yes sir," he said again. A butler served me my regular toast and eggs and I looked at it, depressingly. I wished that I had Shehnaaz's food in front of me. She really spoilt me already. I was slowly eating the breakfast half heartedly when Shehnaaz came down the stairs, holding onto the banister. I quickly got up from my seat but Daksh rushed to her before I could go. He held onto her hand and led her to the nearest sofa to sit down. Kneeling down in front of her, he scolded, "What do you think you are doing? You know you aren't supposed to put pressure on your feet." She smiled at him and said, "I'm okay. The pain is lesser now also."
Inside, I felt a bit bad that she stopped me from doing what Daksh is doing at the moment. When I was helping her, she threw attitude at me and told me to leave her alone but she is completely normal with Daksh. She gradually moved her gaze towards me and I sat back down, pretending to be unaffected. I forced myself to chew the bread and swallow so that she doesn't notice I got hurt. Daksh came with her to the table and made her sit down. I knew she was staring at me but she didn't utter a word. Daksh served her some fruits and she ate them silently while not moving her eyes off of me. Her gaze were piercing inside me and I started to become conscious. I tried my very best to control the shiver in my body and look normal. "Is everything okay between the both of you?" Daksh asked, narrowing his eyes, confused. "Yes. Everything is fine," I said, getting up and buttoning my blazer, "When Shehnaaz is finished with her breakfast, bring her with you." I turned to leave but her voice stopped me asking, "Where?" I looked at Daksh and left without answering her. "Office," I heard him saying as I was leaving. "But I can't go anywhere today. Aditya is coming to meet me," she said. I stopped in my steps. "Sidharth, I told him that he can come here and meet me and what I have to tell him cannot wait," she said, desperately. I turned around and looked at her with a dead eye. "Your court case is tomorrow, you have to meet Anmol today and discuss some details," Daksh said. "No! I have to meet Aditya and talk to him today. The earlier I meet him, it's the better for me," she said. "You are very fond of putting your life at risk for other people, aren't you?" I asked, walking back to the table, "Meeting your lover is more important than your own freedom at this time, isn't it?" I could see the fear in her eyes as she gulped her saliva. "As you wish, do what you want. Your Aditya is a lawyer also, right? Let him come and save you since he is the only person you are interested in meeting," I said. "Sir...." Daksh said, but stopped when I raised my hand.
"What has gotten into you?" She asked, "One minute you keep pushing me away from you, the next minute you come close to me and care so much. What is going on?" "You won't understand and don't even try to," I said. I stormed out of the house in a rage at my emotions. Sometimes I have complete control over them and at other times, they get too out of hand.
Shehnaaz's P.O.V.
I was confused at how much Sidharth's behaviour was changing for me overnight. If it was because of the kiss, why don't he just come forward and tell me? He kissed me once before and I didn't treat him any differently. Why should he behave like this after I kissed him? This isn't fair. "Shehnaaz, don't worry. Sidharth is probably just stressed out about something else that's why he is so grumpy," Daksh said. "I know what he is stressed out about. I am the reason behind it also," I said. "What do you mean?" He asked, "I have been observing the both of you the entire morning so far and you two seem to be in the same room but in completely different worlds. What is going on? What happened?" "I...." I started and remembered the kiss. How do I tell him this? What if he misunderstands me? "I will meet Aditya later. Let's go and meet Anmol," I said. "Are you sure?" He asked. "I am. No one is as important as Sidharth," I said. "Okay," he said and helped me to the car. We went to Sidharth's building and he continued helping me until we reached Sidharth's office. Entering, Sidharth was sitting, looking as angry as ever. "Shehnaaz is ready to meet Anmol," Daksh said. I sat down and looked at Sidharth as he looked outside. "I will just give Anmol a quick call," Daksh said and left. Taking the first opportunity I had, I said, "I'm sorry." He didn't give me the expected attention I wanted and remained quiet so I continued, "I know I must have made you mad this morning but I really didn't mean to. I had a small argument with Aditya over the phone and it turned off my good mood. I didn't mean to hurt you in any way. I'm sorry." He still remained quiet. I sighed and leaned back on the chair. A few seconds passed by and he didn't speak. "Will you...." I started off loudly but stopped as the door opened.
Daksh entered with the lawyer and Sidharth stood up. They shook hands and he introduced me to him. "Good morning," he said. "Good morning," I replied. He sat opposite me and started recording my voice as he asked me questions and I answered. It was long and tiring and I was drained off my energy from even before as Sidharth wasn't talking to me. This process was painfully frustrating. "I think I have everything to fight for you tomorrow," he said, "Don't worry. Nothing is going to happen to you." "Anmol, you told me that you have a lead on Khanna," Sidharth said. "Yes sir," he said, "I heard he is hiding in some residential building. We sent people to look for him, even police but they didn't find anyone. Still, we are keeping an eye on that building because there are a lot of secret reports coming from people that he is there. I heard that there is some wedding to take place there also in a few days." "What's the name of the building?" Sidharth asked. "Panchdeep Apartments," he said. I looked at Sidharth, terror stricken. Tears immediately formed in my eyes as I feared for the safety of my family and neighbours there. "Kha....Khanna....is....in...." I stuttered as I spoke. "Panchdeep Apartments," Anmol said. "Are you sure?" Sidharth asked. "It's alleged sir. Once we have confirmation, we will let you know," he said. Sidharth took the glass of water from his table and handed it to me. "Don't worry. Nothing will happen," he said. I looked at his reassuring eyes telling me to trust him as I took the water. "Prepare for tomorrow's case. We have to wrap this up tomorrow itself and win," Sidharth said. "Yes sir, I assure you, nothing is going to happen against us," Anmol said. He got up and left as I was still as worried for my family as I was before. Sidharth came to me and sat on the chair Anmol got up from. He cupped my face and wiped my tears. "Meeta....is getting married. If anything happens...." I said. "Shush," he said, holding my face, "Nothing is going to happen. I promise you that your family will be safe." I nodded and hugged him tightly. He caressed my back as I cried on his chest.
