Shehnaaz's P.O.V.
I woke up the next morning to my phone ringing. With my eyes closed, I answered it in my hoarse voice, "Hello." "Shehnu," Aditya said. I opened my eyes and sat up saying, "Hey, good morning." "Good morning. How are you feeling?" He asked. "I'm fine. In fact, I'm much better now," I said. "Good. I needed a small favour from you," he said. "Sure, tell me," I said. "Can you come and meet me at the office today?" He asked. "Yeah. Ok. I'll be there in one hour," I said unable to control my smile. "Great. I'm waiting. Bye," he said. He hung up and I bit my nail, excited to see him. Today is going to be great. It already started off good. I quickly got out of the bed and bathed and got ready. I locked the house and walked along the road. Reaching the office, I entered and met Suman ma'am. "Shehnaaz," she said surprised, "What are you doing here?" "I called her," Aditya said coming behind me. I turned and smiled at him. "Thank you for coming," he said. "No problem," I said. "What is this Adi? You know that she is supposed to rest," Suman ma'am said. "It's ok ma'am. Besides, I get so bored at home. I'm glad that he called me," I said. She smiled and was about to go into her office when I stopped her saying, "Ma'am." She turned back to me. "Please ma'am, let me rejoin the job? I'm already much better and I get very bored at home. Please?" I requested. She sighed and said, "Well, the girl I had as a temporary replacement is leaving the city so, I guess, if you are insisting this much, ok." I looked at her overjoyed and beamed in happiness thanking her. "Now, can we get to the work I called you for?" Aditya said. I nodded. "Her shift will start after we return," he said and grabbed my hand. My heart raced and I felt weak. I knew my face must be completely red by now. "Come," he said and led me outside. We went across the street to a small cafe and sat outside. "I need your help," he said. "Sure, anything for you," I said. "This weekend is Mom's birthday and I want your help in planning a surprise for her," he said, "I know that your hand hasn't fully healed but I can't think of anyone else besides you." I knew that he was saying that in a different context but I couldn't help but to feel butterflies inside.
He rested his hand on mine and asked, "Will you help me?" I froze as I couldn't think straight and looked at him with a frown. "Will you, Shehnu?" He asked. I smiled and nodded saying, "I would be more than happy to help you." "Are you serious?" He asked holding my hand tighter. I nodded. "Thank you," he said and let go. I blushed and pulled back my hand. "Ok, let's order something to eat," he said, rubbing his hands together. I ordered a simple breakfast and coffee. "I am thinking, we should do a full on Rajasthani theme party. It will impress Mom since she will remember her roots," he said. "I think it's a great idea," I said. "And, I can even hire some folk singers and have a small puppet show. Mom loves all that as well," he said. I nodded. In short, he was coming up with all the ideas and I just agreed to each of them. We ate out our breakfast and left and went back to the office. I sat at my desk after so long and it was relieving. This was my comfort zone. I began working and was happy as everytime Aditya looked at me, he smiled. I was enjoying this impossible dream. In the middle of the morning, my phone rang and I answered it without looking at the number, "Hello?" "Miss Shehnaaz Gill?" A lady said. "Speaking," I said. "Hi. You called our agency a while back asking about our makeover program," she said, catching my attention. "Yes," I said. "Your name is in our database and I just wanted to know if you are still interested in our program," she said. I frowned and said, "I'm sorry, your program is too expensive. I won't be able to do it." "Ok ma'am, thank you," she said. I hung up. This call put back an idea in my head. If I can't pay the amount of money needed to do this, I can do this myself. I began looking at makeovers on the Internet and watched a whole set of videos. Everyone seemed to be doing something different from the other and it seemed all impossible for a girl like me. I frowned and gave up, turning off my phone. This is impossible for me. I sighed and got back to my work. As the work day was drawing to an end, Aditya and I went to the market to choose and check out decorations for the party.
