Shehnaaz's P.O.V.
After my meal, I ordered gulab jamoon as my dessert and sat, eating it slowly as I was already stuffed. After just one, I couldn't make anymore and gave to Sidharth to eat the second one. "I'll just go to the washroom and be back," I said. He nodded and I left the table. I went to the washroom and washed my face and hands to feel a bit better from stuffing myself. As I was leaving the washroom, I bounced into someone coming out of the gents toilet. "I'm sorry," I said, apologising. He smiled at me and said, "It's ok." He walked away and I noticed his wallet on the ground. I took it and ran after him but bounced into Sidharth. The wallet dropped from my hand as I looked behind him at the man leaving. "That man bounced into me and his wallet fell," I said. Sidharth took the wallet and opened it. Seeing the man's picture, he looked at me with a long face and frowned, angrily. "No need to run after him," he said, holding my arm tightly. "But his ID card, license and other cards as well as money are all in here. I have to return it to him," I said pulling hand arm out of his grip. I grabbed the wallet and walked pass him but he held my arm and span me around to him. Holding onto my shoulders tightly, he said furious, "You are not going anywhere. I said it and it's finally." "I'm going whether you agree to it or not," I said stepping away from him. I took a step away but he held back my hand and said with a lone tear in his eye, "It's either him or me. Choose." I thought for a brief second and thought that he might be angry at me for a while but I will mollify him in no time. It was important to return the man's wallet. "I'll meet you in a while," I said and ran away from him. I ran behind the man and managed to catch up with him as he was leaving the hotel. "Sir!" I said, running to him. He stopped and turned back to me. "Your wallet," I said, panting. He took it and looked at me surprised. Resting his hand on my head, he said, "No one must be as honest as you. God bless you." I smiled and lowered my head. Sidharth left the hotel with a bottle of alcohol and stopped and looked at me with the man. I frowned at him as he walked out without saying anything.
The man looked at me and frowned. "Do you know him?" He asked. "Yes," I said, smiling, "I am here with him. He's my friend." "Friend?" He said and looked back at him. His face showed some strange emotions. He looked shocked and sad at the same time. "Are you ok?" I asked. He nodded and smiled at me. "God bless you once more my child," he said, cupping my face. His car came and he got inside and left. I sighed and ran behind Sidharth who was drinking straight from the bottle. Running behind him, I held his arm and smiled saying, "Don't sulk now." "Get lost!" He said and pushed me away. The push was so hard that I fell on the ground. He didn't even look back at me and went to his car. He got inside and left. I was both shocked and completely hurt at his actions. I felt like I was once again alone. I got up and dusted out myself. My hurt hand was in much unbearable pain and I wiped away my tears as they kept rolling down my cheeks. Depressed, angry and saddened at how I was treated, I left the hotel and looked around. I had nowhere to go now.
Sidharth's P.O.V.
I was furious the moment I saw that man's picture and Shehnaaz only hurt me more when she decided that she wasn't going to stay with me and went to return the wallet to him, despite I telling her not to. I went to the bar and bought a bottle of whiskey, hurt and dejected that he took her away from me as well. I began drinking heavily and left the hotel to see them outside. I left no stone unturned in showing my disappointment and left without her. She came behind me to fix my mood but I was too hurt and pushed her away. I left the hotel and drank my way back home. As I reached home, I dropped on my couch and closed my eyes. Then, I heard a very vague voice calling out to me, "Sidharth!" Not long after, the voice came stronger and stronger, calling my name and it was Shehnaaz's. I opened my eyes and sat up. Running my hand through my hair, I began to realise my mistake. She obviously didn't know how much I hate that man. Her nature is such, she is even generous to strangers. Then, how can I blame her? And how can I hurt her? I felt extremely guilty now and I knew that I had to meet her and apologise. Quickly, I got up and ran out of my house. I took the keys to my motorcycle and went to meet her. Running up to the house, I began banging on the door but she didn't open. Then, I realised that it was still locked which means she didn't come home. "Shit!" I said, punching the wall. I was angry at myself and worried about her. God knows where she must be and how. I went back to her housing complex and asked the guard about her but he knew nothing. Of course she wouldn't return here. Then, where can she be? Perhaps, she is still at the hotel. I jumped on my bike once more and rode there. I drove around the parking lot and still didn't spot her. Leaving, I stopped and saw her sitting at a bus stand.
She was shaking and crying. Right there, I got off the bike and ran to her. I was relieved seeing her safe. She looked up at me with her eyes red and swollen. "What did you come back for? I have nothing to lose anymore," she said angrily. "Why didn't you go back home?" I asked. "That house? Going back in the house you gave me will mean I have no self-respect," she said. I dropped my shoulders and sighed. "You know," I said. "Of course I know. I only look and act stupid but I'm not," she said. She looked away and hiccuped. I hated myself a lot of times before but never as much as today. I looked at her, tightly holding her hurt arm. "I'm a beast, aren't I?" I said with my voice breaking. "I don't want to talk to you. You told me to get lost, right?" She said, looking away from me. I went and sat next to her. "Just this one time, forgive me?" I said. "No! If I forgive you, you will hurt me again," she said. "I won't. I promise, I will never," I said, kneeling down in front her. I held her hand and said with tears of fear welling up in my eyes, "I will never hurt you ever again. Just this one time, forgive me. I'm sorry." She still didn't look at me. "You can punish me as much as you want. You can slap me as long and as hard as you want," I said, taking her hand and hitting my face. She looked at me and said, "Stop it." She pulled away her hand. Looking at me, she sobbed and I hugged her tightly. Tears also flowed from my eyes as I was feeling the same amount of pain she was going through. I didn't want to let go of her once. "I will forgive you," she said. I broke the hug and looked at her. "But, just this one time," she said pouting, "The next time you hurt me, I will leave and go somewhere without telling you anything." I cupped her face and wiped away her tears. Bending her head down, I kissed her forehead and joined mine with hers. "I won't let you have another chance to be angry. I promise," I said.
She parted and wiped away her tears saying, "Let's go. I'm feeling very cold." I nodded and stood up. I took off my jacket and wrapped it around her. I walked her to my motorcycle and she looked at it hesitantly. "Come," I said, holding her hand tightly. She looked at me with a sad face and got behind me. I started the bike and said, "Hold onto me tightly." "I'll be ok," she said. In a split second, I slowly let go of the brake and allowed the bike to move forward and applied the brake once more. She crashed on my back. Smirking, I asked, "Are you sure you will be ok?" I looked at her in the mirror, rolling her eyes and slowly, she wrapped her one hand around me. Seriously, I didn't know that her mere touch could do this to me and fireworks exploded inside me. "Are you ready?" I asked. She shut her eyes tightly and nodded. I wore my helmet and drove off. I didn't speed the bike like I would normally do because I didn't want her feeling scared so I rode at a reasonable speed until we reached back to the house. Getting off the bike, she turned to me and said, "Ride safely. And don't drink anymore once you reach home. It's quite late so go and sleep." "Yes boss," I said, smiling. She smiled back at me and said, "Good night." "Good night," I said and looked at her as she went inside. She waved from the window at me. Seeing her safe and inside, I left and went back home with the biggest smile plastered on my face. I haven't smiled in years and nothing felt so special to make me before. Being with Shehnaaz and spending time with her was my happy time and I felt as if I could become the old Sidharth that I suppressed a long time ago.
Shehnaaz's P.O.V.
As I laid on my bed, I recalled what happened. I met the same old man whose wallet I had returned earlier when I was at the bus stop. He offered me help but I didn't want it. I didn't want any more favours from anyone. He revealed himself to be Ashok Shukla, Sidharth's biological father. I was shocked but understood by the way Sidharth behaved with him that there was some tension between the both of them. What it was, he didn't tell me and neither did Sidharth. Sidharth didn't even tell me that he was his father. He came and apologised and brought me back home. For the first time, I saw him helpless and crying and happy and smiling. His smile was charming, just as much as himself. His crying was heartbreaking to see. He was full of secrets and never revealed a single detail of himself to me or perhaps anyone. But I still had the amount of respect to give him his space and privacy without interfering too much. Perhaps, one day, he will open up completely and tell me everything that he is hiding. Overall, tonight was both good and bad but the bad also turned back good. Sidharth proved once more than he is the ideal friend and well wisher. Again, he came to my rescue and brought me home otherwise, I don't know what I would have done or where I would have gone. I turned and looked at his two blazers, hung on the wall that he offered me the two times. I smiled and closed my eyes, reassured that there is a genuine person that was willing to do anything for my happiness.
