Shehnaaz's P.O.V.
As the day was drawing closer to evening, I started to get ready in the clothes Sidharth sent for me. I kept myself simple, like I always loved and waited for his arrival. I went downstairs to the hall and looked at my watch, anxiously, again and again, waiting for time to finish fast and he arrives. My eyes were glued to the door as I paced left to right, playing with my fingers to calm my nerves a bit. Finally, he came and I ran up to him, excited. Firstly, he looked at me from head to toe and smiled. "Ravishing," he said, smirking. I dropped my shoulders, eased up a bit and rolled my eyes, punching his arm lightly as I said, modestly, "I'm just looking at little better than normal because of the clothes you got me." He held my hand and staring directly into my eyes, he said, "Ravishing." "Really?" I asked, blushing. "I wish you can see yourself for once through my eyes. You will see how the most beautiful girl ever looks," he said. "You can play well with words," I said. "I'm only stating facts darling," he said. "Okay, enough of my praises," I said, "Tell me, please, what is your plan for tonight? I can hardly wait anymore." "Patience, my love," he said, cupping my cheek, "The fruit of patience is always very sweet." "I don't want anything too sweet," I said, complaining like a baby, "I want it unripe and a bit sour so tell me." "And you say I play well with words," he said, walking off, smiling. I quickly followed him as he walked up the stairs, nagging him with the same line, "Tell me!" Reaching outside his bedroom, he turned to me and said, "I promised you that I would show you your sister's wedding so I am going to fulfil my promise. You just be ready to participate in her wedding. Just....in a bit of a different style." "What do you mean?" I asked, narrowing my eyes, "What are you going to do?" "Why do you worry so much?" He asked, "Do you trust me?" I nodded, looking down, playing with his blazer button. "Then trust your trust on me. Nothing wrong will go wrong," he said, reassuringly. I smiled and he went inside his room.
I went back down to the hall and waited for him once more. About a half hour later, he came down the stairs in a blue kurta, looking as dashing as ever. I was lost of words by the sight of him and I stood up. All the air was pulled out of me as he approached me with his eyes fixed onto me. Standing opposite me, he asked, "Are you ready?" "Suddenly, I feel inferior to stand next to you," I said, staring at him with my mouth agape. He smiled at me and said, "You snatched the words out of my mouth. I am feeling so inferior to stand next to you." "God did well in making you," I said, flirtatiously. "Luckily, he made you my better half when he was constructing me," he said. I couldn't beat that. We both chuckled as we laughed out our moment. "Will you tell me now where are we going and what's your plan?" I asked. "We are going on the terrace," he said, leaving me surprised. "The terrace?" I asked, confused. He smiled, nodding. I didn't question his plan and followed him upstairs. Our cozy tent was set up once more with the white screen. Fairy lights and garlands decorated the space and he lit incense sticks and kept flowers near me. Turning on the screen, I saw multiple camera angles around Meeta's mandap where her wedding ceremony was in progress. My eyes rapidly filled with tears as I looked at her in her bridal outfit, looking as beautiful as a Goddess. The cameras showed everyone including Mom, Bani, Dad and my relatives. "I fulfilled my promise, you will see your baby sister getting married," Sidharth said in my ear. I turned my head and joined my forehead with his. "Thank you so much," I said. I kissed his forehead and I looked back at the screen. With the scent from the incense sticks, the flowers in my hands, and the ambience of the decoration, I felt as if I was amongst everyone there at the wedding.
I smiled, looking at how happy Dad looked and secretly envied Meeta for giving him the happiness I was supposed to give him a long time ago. He faced so much of disappointment with all of my failed wedding proposals but Meeta's wedding clearly filled all the voids he was left with from them. Sidharth wrapped his arm around me and pulled me closer, rubbing my shoulder as I chuckled through my tears. "Are you alright?" He asked. I nodded and wiped away my tears. "I did all of this for your happiness," he said, "But if it is bringing tears to your eyes then, I will cut it off." I held his hand and kissed the back of it. "You have done so much for me until now," I said, "But this tops it. Thank you for loving me so much." "I love you even way more than this," he said, kissing my nose, cutely. I took some of the flowers and threw it on his face as he looked at me surprised. He took some and threw it back on me, chuckling. "You change moods so quickly," he said. "Not when I am with you. Whenever I am with you, you don't let me remain sad and upset for too long. My happiness starts with you and never ends," I said. "Awwww....my baby," he said and cuddled up with me, "Pay attention to the ceremony, it's my sister-in-law's wedding." I smiled and shook my head. I looked at the entire ceremony and felt as present as anyone else there. My happiness knew no bounds tonight as I felt after so long that I am between my family. By the time it was finished in a few hours, I looked at Sidharth looking at me with wet eyes. Frowning, I asked him, worriedly, "What's wrong? Why are you crying?" Without responding, he engulfed me in a huge hug and held me tightly. I took a second to comprehend what just happened and then hugged him back. Meeta's wedding was over and breaking the hug, he got up and went to the railing, looking out at the front yard. Slowly, I got up and went behind him. "You miss your parents, your sisters a lot, don't you?" He asked.
