Sidharth's P.O.V.
I chopped up a variety of different fruits and fed Shehnaaz with my own hands. She looked at me with the biggest smile ever and I was relieved that she wasn't thinking about why I am not eating food or making so many excuses. I didn't want her to know that I am fasting along with her because if she feels guilty about it, I would feel bad. I lied to her yesterday and told her I ate the lunch she sent me but I gave Daksh it instead to eat. I was a bit sad that I am missing out on her delicious food but I had to do this with her. She took up a piece of the apple and fed it to me. "Eat as much as you can now because you won't be able to eat the entire day," I said. "I'm trying," she said with her mouth full, "But you are feeding me as if I won't be eating for the rest of the month." "I don't want to hear anything. Do you know how hard it is to survive on a few fruits through the entire day?" I said, feeding her more. "Of course I know what it is like because I am doing it. But how do you know?" She asked, narrowing her eyes. I looked at her dumbfounded as I wasn't expecting that question. "I...I...just know," I said, nervously. She smiled, convinced and opened her mouth for more. Daksh finished his breakfast and went to do some work while I remained with Shehnaaz at the table. She looked at me with a huge frown and I realised somehow that she was bothered by something. "What happened?" I asked. She took my hand in her's and said with saddened eyes, "If I do something and get hurt doing it and I hide it from you, would you be angry at me for it?" Worry rapidly rushed into me as I looked at her hands and fingers asking, "What's wrong? What did you do? And where are you hurt?" She held onto my hands, stopping me and said, "I hid something from you since yesterday but I really don't want any secrets between us so I will tell you."
I cupped her face and gave her reassurance that she can tell me anything. She took a deep breath and let it out. "Sidharth," she said, "I...went home...yesterday." I frowned angrily. Not at her, but because I know that her father must have said something hurtful to her. "What was the need?" I asked. "Sidharth, Meeta is getting married. Yesterday was her mehndi and sangeet, today is her haldi and tonight is her wedding," she said, "She is my little sister. I know Dad will never let me be a part of her wedding celebrations but I also cannot help but feel bad and even more hurt that I can't see her getting married. I thought if I tell Dad that I am engaged to marry, he will accept me back and I will get my family back." I sighed and dropped my shoulders. "Does this mean so much to you?" I asked. "You have no idea," she said, "From childhood, I have craved my father's love. Everything I did was only to get a little bit of appreciation from him but I failed everytime. After what happened to me, it seems impossible but when I got you, I thought I would get some attention from him. Despite everything, he's my father and I love him. I miss my mother and sisters." My heart sank hearing her. "I promise you, you will be a part of your sister's wedding," I said to her, confidently. She looked at me with tears in her eyes and I smiled, wiping them away. "Don't worry. You will see your baby sister get married," I said. Her smile shone through her tears and she hugged me saying, "I trust you. Thank you. I love you." I broke the hug after a few seconds and she smiled, finally. "I'm going to work but be ready for tonight, my sister-in-law is getting married," I said. She chuckled and nodded. "One minute, I'll bring your lunch for you," she said and left to go into the kitchen. I felt guilty for hiding my fast from her. She told me her secret and said to me that she don't want any secrets between us. This added pressure onto me to tell her the truth.
She came back with two lunchboxes and rested one right next to me on the table. Going to Daksh, she handed him one and then came back to me. I got up and looked at it in her hands. I looked at the smile on her face and thought to myself, "If I tell you the truth now, you might be worried about me throughout the day. I just cheered you up, I don't want you sad again. I'll tell you after the wedding is finished tonight. I'm sorry for keeping this so long." "Bye," she said, smiling, handing me the lunch. I smiled back and said, "Take care of yourself, please. And don't stress too much throughout the day. I'll be back soon." She smiled and hugged me tightly. Daksh, standing behind me, cleared his throat and she stepped back. My glare slowly turned to him and he bent his head, awkwardly. "Do you always have to spoil moments?" I asked, gritting my teeth. "Sorry, sir," he said. Shehnaaz's smile was back to normal now and I was happy that she was smiling before I left. I kissed her forehead and bid goodbye to her once more before leaving. In the car, I gave clear instructions to Daksh about my plan to show Shehnaaz Meeta's wedding. "Do you think this is a good idea?" He asked. "There is no other way. Shehnaaz is not going there to be insulted by her father again because this time, I won't spare him," I said. "Okay sir, everything will be done," he said. Reaching the building, I went up and Daksh left to go and see about my plan. I messaged Shehnaaz that I reached safely and got to work early so that I can be back home with her soon.
Shehnaaz's P.O.V.
I kept thinking throughout the day how Sidharth was going to let me see Meeta's wedding. A little after lunch, Daksh came to me with a box and said, "Sidharth sent this for you. You have to wear this tonight for your sister's wedding." I was taken aback. "Are we going?" I asked, confused. "Sidharth's order is to keep this a surprise so I am sorry, I cannot tell you anything," he said. I frowned, worried at what he was thinking and going to do. "Don't worry," he said, holding my shoulder, "Nothing wrong is going to happen tonight. It will be beautiful." "How can I not worry?" I said, "I don't want I being the problem in Meeta's wedding but I want to see her marriage." "You will witness her wedding," he said, reassuringly, "And you also won't disrupt the celebrations." "How?" I asked. "Why are you worrying this much?" He asked. "Because I know Sidharth," I said, "He can carry me there and he won't care about what happens." "No," he said, "Sidharth won't spoil your sister's day. And he won't leave you sad either. You just have to wait and watch and trust me, after tonight, you will love him even more." This forced me to blush a bit and I bent my head. "You go ahead and blush, I'll take your leave now," he said, teasing me, "I have to go back to the office and meet Sidharth." I nodded and as he turned to leave, I stopped him, asking abruptly, "Did Sidharth eat his lunch?" He froze and slowly turned to me, holding his stomach. I now realised that his blazer was unbuttoned while every other day, he always keeps it buttoned up. It was obvious that he over ate which meant that he ate Sidharth's lunch along with his. Without saying anything, he smiled nervously and turned and left. I chuckled and decided to wait for Sidharth and when he is comfortable to tell me that he is fasting along with me.
I went up to my room and looked at the present Sidharth sent me. It was a beautiful saree and a simple jewellery set. Inside was a note which read, 'As soon as I saw this, I knew it was made to look beautiful when you wear it. My eyes can hardly wait to see you tonight.' I smiled and read it over and over. It didn't fail a single time I read it to make my heartbeat fasten. I looked at his picture on my phone and spoke to him, "What did I do to deserve you in my life?" I took the saree and threw it over my shoulder and looked at myself. It looked perfect for my complexion and I was happy. I looked back at his picture and said in a whining voice, "What are you planning? And when are you coming home? I am missing my mafia." I pouted like a baby and made a cry face. Just as I was looking at his picture, he video called me. At once, I answered and with a happy and enthusiastic smile, I said, "Hi!" "Looks like someone liked their gift," he said. "I love the gift and the one who gifted it to me," I said. "Choose which one you love more and tell me," he said. "Of course I love the gift..." I said and paused to look at his face turning pale, "Giver more." I chuckled at his expression. "Ohhh!" He said, "I thought you loved gifts more than the giver. Thank God you are not like other girls." "Other girls?" I asked with an arched eyebrow. "I mean..." he said, "Generally, you know?" "Hmmm...." I hummed, narrowing my eyes. "I can't wait to see you tonight," he said, "I want to dress you myself but I also want to see you all dressed up and coming to me and let you take my breath away like everytime I see you." "If I look too good tonight, you might as well just marry me," I said, jokingly. "Don't joke about that, I am warning you. All I need is a mangalsutra and some sindoor," he said. "Marrying you will be a dream come true and I can't wait for that dream to come true," I said staring into his eyes, through the phone. A knock on his door disturbed us and he looked up. "I'm sorry, sir. Your meeting with the board of directors is in five minutes. Everyone has arrived," a girl said. "You go," he said. He looked at me and I smiled. "Go and attend your meeting," I said. "After this meeting, I am coming home so be ready," he said. I nodded. "Give me a kiss before I go," he said. I carried my lips closer to the phone camera and kissed him. "Kissing me over the phone is so easy, isn't it? I want to see you do it physically," he said, teasing me. I blushed profusely and lowered my eyes and head. "Bye," he said. I waved at him and he hung up.
