Shehnaaz's P.O.V.
Before going back home, I passed by a religious store and bought everything I needed for doing my daily worship for Navratri. Despite getting hurt from Dad, I still didn't want anything to bother me for too long because one, it's a festive and happy time and two, Sidharth and my relationship have now started and I wanted to cherish every moment with all my heart. This time is time I won't ever get back so I want to live it to the fullest and have no regrets tomorrow. As I reached home and entered, I saw the hall busy with everyone decorating all around with beautiful yellow and orange marigold flower garlands. I was a bit taken aback but impressed at the same time. Daksh stood, giving instructions and ordering around the workers. Going up to him, I looked around with a smile. A butler took my shopping bags and Daksh smiled at me. "What's all of this going on?" I asked. "Sidharth specially ordered the house to be decorated for Navratri," he said. My heart melted seeing all of this. "By the way," he said, "Where were you?" I frowned at him and said, "I went to get some items for the pooja." "Wait until you see the altar," he said, excitedly. I followed him and saw the small wooden structure with a beautiful murti installed. Seeing it, my pores raised and my eyes filled with tears. The divine mother looked so beautiful. I clasped my palms and bowed before her. "Come, I'll help you," I said, after paying homage to her. Both of us, along with the rest of the men worked together and completed the house. It looked extremely beautiful and full of life and positive energy. It was already evening and I went to bathe and get ready for the evening worship. By the time I am finished, I am sure Sidharth would be home and join in too. As I finished ready and was leaving my room, I bounced into him and looked at him in awe. He wore a kurta and looked fabulous in it. I literally couldn't take my eyes off of him.
Raising my eyebrows, I said, "Impressive! My mafia is looking smoking." He looked down at himself and his face turned red. "Blushing is my department," I said, taking a step closer to him. "Only this mafia's girl can make this mafia blush," he said. "Is that so?" I asked, crawling my two fingers up his arm. He held onto my hand, stopping me and stared intensely into my eyes. He slowly started stepping closer to me but I stepped backwards with every one he took ahead. Soon enough, my back was against the wall and he trapped me with both his hands pressing against the wall, locking me. "I have something to tell you," he whispered in his husky, deep voice. Automatically, my eyes closed and I nodded, humming, "Hmmm...." His hand slowly made it's way down my arm and his fingers intertwined with mine. "You....I....we...." he started as I got impatient to hear what heart touching he is going to tell me, "We...." "Tell me," I said. "We will be late for the pooja," he said. I opened my eyes and looked up at him with a disappointed frown as he started giggling. I playfully slapped his arm and pouted, angrily. "You thought I was going to say something extremely romantic, didn't you?" He asked. Looking away, embarrassed, I said, "Not at all. Why would I think that?" Nodding sarcastically, he said, "Yeah, I believe you." I pushed him away and tucked my hair behind my ear, annoyed, wrapped it up into a messy bun and tied it up with a scrunchie. Just as I took two steps away from him, he held back my dupatta, stopping me. Gritting my teeth, I said, "Leave me." He neither let go nor said anything. "Look, if you don't let go, it won't be nice," I said, warning him. He cleared his throat and I turned back to see him standing with his arms folded across his chest. My dupatta was hooked on a nail. He looked at me with an amused smile. He released my dupatta from the nail and let go of it.
I stormed off but stopped once more when something else held back my dupatta again. Due to the situation the last time, I turned back and looked at Sidharth holding onto it. "Let go," I said. He wrapped it around his hand and pulled me closer to him. I could feel his breath fanning my nose as my eyes closed tightly. Slowly, he pulled the scrunchie off my hair and allowed it to fall down over my shoulders and I looked up at him. With my dupatta still wrapped up on his hand, he held both his ears and with puppy eyes, said, "I'm sorry." My heart melted. I couldn't stop the smile from curving my lips up. "Come on, let us do the pooja and we will fight after as much as you want," he said, cutely. I chuckled and shook my head. We both went downstairs and I led the pooja with Sidharth by my side and his workers joining in as well. Everything went smoothly and I was very happy. At the dinner table, he asked, "Why didn't you wear the new suit you bought today?" "I am saving it for tomorrow so that I can wear it for longer," I said. "And why did you only buy one suit?" He asked with a long face. "You brought such an expensive designer, how can I spend out your money like that?" I said. Daksh smiled as they looked at each other and Sidharth rolled his eyes and buried his face in his palm. He sighed. "What's wrong?" I asked. "I sent that designer so that you can spend my money. What kind of girl are you? Which girl doesn't like shopping and buying new clothes?" He said. "I love shopping and buying new clothes but if I buy such expensive clothes I alone will feel guilty," I said. Daksh, on the other hand, giggled. "You aren't laughing too much?" Sidharth said, glaring at him. "Hey! Why are you scolding him?" I said, "Let him eat in peace." I served Daksh a plate of food and was taking out food for Sidharth when he asked me, "Who is that for?" "You, who else?" I said. He suddenly began coughing and I rested the plate down and gave him some water, rubbing his back. "Are you okay?" I asked, worriedly. "Yeah, I'm fine," he said.
"What happened to you all of a sudden?" I asked, continuing to take out food for him. "I'm not hungry," he said. I frowned, asking, "Why?" "I...I...I had a meeting with some....international....delegates and I...I...had a lot of...umm...lunch....with...them," he said, stammering. "Okay," I said, "But you can eat a little bit, right? I won't take out much for you." "No!" He said, abruptly, "I'm too full to eat anything." I sighed and looked at Daksh eating quickly with his eyes widened. I knew something was fishy about the two of them. "I sent a lunchbox for you today with the driver, did you eat it?" I asked. Daksh started coughing suddenly now and Sidharth gave him water. Looking at the floor, he scratched the back of his neck saying, "Yes, I ate it. It was delicious." I narrowed my eyes at the both of them. "Okay," I said, shrugging my shoulders, "If you say so." I took the remaining food and carried it into the kitchen. I looked at the empty lunchbox I sent for Sidharth and thought what was it going on between the both of them. I looked at the fresh fruits Sidharth bought for me like I asked and smiled. "Mohan," I said to one of the butlers, "You and everyone else eat and whatever food remains, share it with some poor people you see outside." "Yes ma'am," he said. I went back outside to see Sidharth and Daksh whispering to each other and as soon as they saw me, they hushed. I went and took a seat opposite Daksh and looked at him with his plate still full. "What's wrong? The food is not good?" I asked. He looked at Sidharth who was glaring at him and said, "No! The food is very good!" He pushed a mouthful inside his mouth and visibly forced to chew and swallow. "Did you eat a lot with Sidharth and his delegates as well?" I asked. "Yes!" He said with his eyes lighting up at once, "In fact, I ate more than sir ate also so I am more full than him." "Oh!" I said frowning, "It's okay, I can pack the rest for you, you can eat it tomorrow." "That would be great," he said, smiling and handed me his plate. I went back into the kitchen and while transferring the remaining food, I thought to myself, "I will figure out what it is cooking between the both of us, wait and watch." Before I went back outside to give Daksh the food, I heard Sidharth saying, "I am warning you, if you don't keep quiet, I won't spare you. Shehnaaz must not find out about this, do you understand?" "Yes, sir," he said.
The next day, I woke up early and prepared food for Sidharth and Daksh together to carry for lunch. I cleaned the altar and prepared for the morning pooja. After I was done, I went into Sidharth's room to see him already up and getting dressed in front the mirror. I went up behind him and hugged him tightly saying, "Good morning handsome." "Good morning my angel," he said, turning to me with his shirt halfway buttoned up. He wrapped his big arms around me and I continued buttoning his shirt from where he left off. "You woke up very early today? I thought I would make a special fruit salad for you and surprise you," he said. "I already cooked breakfast for you and Daksh and also, I cooked lunch for you both to carry to work," I said. His face turned pale as he asked, "What was the need to cook for Daksh as well?" "I have considered him my brother, of course I will cook for him as well," I said, observing his face closely. He cleared his throat, looking nervous. "What's wrong?" I asked. "Nothing," he said, smiling. He let go of me and went to his bed and wore his watch and buttoned the sleeves of his shirt. He pushed his wallet and handkerchief into his pockets and turned to me all ready. "Shall we go?" I asked. He nodded. I held onto his hand and we went downstairs together. Daksh joined us just in time. We performed the morning aarti and then went to the table. One by one, as I lifted the covers off the dishes I made, Sidharth became more and more nervous. For spite, I made his favourite parathas with raita to see his reaction. He gulped down his saliva and looked at me with a fake smile. I took out two parathas and a bowl of raita and served it to Daksh. He took it normally but when I was taking out for Sidharth he said, "You know what? I don't think I can handle parathas so early. I have acidity in my stomach today so I'll just have a simple fruit salad. The butter from the paratha will make the acid worse." I knew it! I figured out what he was trying to do now. I am fasting and only having fruits once daily so he is secretly fasting with me. He took up an apple and bit into it. Holding my hand, he made me sit down and started cutting an apple into smaller pieces for me as I admired the guy I got.
